Relative Sea-Level Fluctuations during Rhuddanian–Aeronian Transition and Its Implication for Shale Gas Sweet Spot Forming: A Case Study of Luzhou Area in the Southern Sichuan Basin, SW China

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2023
Most scholars believe that transgression events can contribute positively to organic matter enrichment and shale gas sweet spot development, while whether or not regression events are conducive to shale gas sweet spot development remains to be further ...

Paleoenvironment and Organic Matter Accumulation of the Upper Ordovician-Lower Silurian, in Upper Yangtze Region, South China: Constraints from Multiple Geochemical Proxies

open access: yesEnergies, 2020
The origin of the organic-rich shale in the Upper Ordovician Wufeng Formation and Lower Silurian Longmaxi Formation is complex and controversial. This paper reports the geochemical data of Wufeng-Longmaxi Formations in the Upper Yangtze region to restore

Linking Hydrothermal Activity With Organic Matter Accumulation in the Chang 7 Black Shale of Yanchang Formation, Ordos Basin, China

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science, 2022
The Chang 7 black shale in the Upper Triassic Yanchang Formation is the principal source rock of Mesozoic oil-bearing system in the southwest Ordos Basin, containing high abundances of organic matter and hydrocarbon potential.

Barium in Deep‐Sea Sediment: A Geochemical Proxy for Paleoproductivity [PDF]

open access: yesPaleoceanography, 1992
We used sediment traps to define the particulate fluxes of barium and organic carbon and investigate the use of barium as a proxy for ocean fertility. Strong correlations between Corg and Ba fluxes indicate a link between upper ocean biological processes and barium flux to the seafloor.

Inorganic geochemical characteristics and evaluation of Sinian-Cambrian post-mature source rocks in Sichuan Basin

open access: yesShiyou shiyan dizhi, 2022
The evaluation of post-mature source rocks gradually invalidates by traditional organic geochemical parameters due to the decreasing of organic matter abundance. However, the inorganic elements in source rocks are not easily affected by thermal evolution.

Organic Matter Enrichment of Black Shale at the Turn of Ordovician-Silurian in the Paleosedimentary Center in Southern Sichuan Basin, Upper Yangtze Area

open access: yesLithosphere, 2022
Herein, integrated vertical variation characteristic analysis was conducted by measuring total organic carbon (TOC), major and trace elements in Upper Ordovician-Lower Silurian (Wufeng-Longmaxi formations) black shale in Weiyuan, Luzhou, and Changning ...
