Geomechanical paleostress inversion using fracture data
Journal of Structural Geology, 2016Abstract We describe a fast geomechanically-based paleostress inversion technique that uses observed fracture data to constrain stress through multiple simulations. The method assumes that the local stress field around individual fractures is heterogeneous and derives the far field tectonic stress, that we also call the far field boundary conditions.

Bedding tilt test for paleostress analysis
Journal of Structural Geology, 2005It is difficult to apply stress inversion to fault-slip data obtained from highly tilted sedimentary layers, especially in areas where criteria for fault sorting are not available at outcrops. This paper shows that a bedding tilt test similar to that used in paleomagnetism allows paleostresses to be inferred.

Journal of Structural Geology, 1994Abstract We have analyzed the microfractures in samples taken near one thrust fault and five normal faults of known displacement to test the dependence of microfracture density and distribution on fault slip. We have also recorded the orientation of microfractures as a function of distance from the associated fault surface.

Orientation of Paleostress of Raplee Ridge Anticline
The Compass: Earth Science Journal of Sigma Gamma Epsilon, 2019During the Laramide Orogeny several major folds were formed in Southern Utah, one of those being the Raplee Ridge anticline. Raplee Ridge is approximately eight miles from Mexican Hat, Utah. The San Juan River cuts through the anticline, exposing the Honaker Trail Formation’s beds of shale and limestone with chert nodules.
