Pineapple Leaf Fibers and PALF-Reinforced Polymer Composites [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Pineapple leaf fibers (PALF) have long been known as textile materials in many countries. Despite being mechanically excellent and environmentally sound, PALF are the least-studied natural fibers, especially for reinforcing composites. This article presents a survey of research works carried out on PALF and PALF-reinforced composites.

Properties of Pineapple Leaf Fiber (PALF) Reinforced Polypropylene (PP) Composites [PDF]

open access: yesMacromolecular Symposia
AbstractPineapple leaf fiber (PALF) is an abundant natural fiber that is produced from agricultural plantations in Malaysia. Typically, after three times the pineapple yield, pineapple leaf waste is burned, which can cause an environmental issue. PALF has the potential to be converted into fiber‐reinforced composites.

Mechanical and Thermal Properties of PALF Reinforced Epoxy Composites

Macromolecular Symposia, 2016
SummaryAlkali treated pineapple leaf fibers (PALF) were used as reinforcement in an epoxy matrix. The prepared Epoxy/PALF composites were evaluated for thermal and mechanical properties. Increasing the fiber loading in Epoxy systems showed considerable enhancements in mechanical properties up to the optimum level as compared to the neat epoxy matrix ...

Thermal Stability of PALF-PP and PALF-PLA for Natural Fiber Honeycomb Core Materials

Journal of Advanced Research in Fluid Mechanics and Thermal Sciences, 2021
This paper studied the thermal behaviour of pineapple leaf fiber (PALF) reinforced with polypropylene (PP) and polylactic acid (PLA) composite, used for natural fiber honeycomb core. Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and differential scanning calorimetric (DSC) analysis were used to measure the thermal characteristic of PALF-PP/PLA composites.

Review on PALF Extraction Machines for Natural Fibers

Advanced Materials Research, 2013
PALF (pineapple leaf fiber) is one of the abundant sources that have been used for ages to be processed as different end product. The methods to extract the fiber are abounding. However comparisons between the machines are needed to ascertain the better function of machines and whether all natural fibers can be extracted using the same exact machine ...

The sequence of palF, an environmental pH response gene in Aspergillus nidulans

Gene, 1997
To molecularly characterize the influence of external pH in the secretion of enzymes by filamentous fungi, we have cloned and sequenced the palF gene of Aspergillus nidulans (An). An An wild-type (wt) chromosome VII-specific cosmid library was used to transform a palF15 mutant strain.
