Beyond Immediate Givenness: Husserl's Content‐Apprehension Schema in Light of Merleau‐Ponty's Critique of Sensation

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Philosophy, EarlyView.
Abstract Merleau‐Ponty's Phenomenology of Perception (2012 [1945]) opens with a detailed critique of traditional philosophical accounts of sensation, generally understood as having Husserl's “content‐apprehension schema” among its targets. The schema sees perception as resulting from the interpretation (“apprehension” or “apperception”) of “raw ...

A noncanonical role for Jagged1 in endothelial mechanotransduction

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
This study reveals a noncanonical role for Jagged1 in endothelial mechanotransduction. Shear stress modulates Jagged1 expression and subcellular localization. Loss of Jagged1 attenuates mechanotransduction and reduces Src, VEGFR2, and ERK signaling. Direct mechanical stimulation of Jagged1 induces activation of these signaling pathways.

A patient‐centered conceptual model and measurement framework for migraine experience developed by the Migraine Clinical Outcome Assessment System

open access: yesHeadache: The Journal of Head and Face Pain, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective To develop a comprehensive, evidence‐based, patient‐centered conceptual model of migraine and to derive a measurement framework for the development or selection of clinical outcome assessments used in clinical trials of treatments for migraine.

Priority areas for arthropod conservation in the Iberian Peninsula and Balearic Islands: Insights from a multi‐taxon distributional database

open access: yesInsect Conservation and Diversity, EarlyView.
Using over 416,000 occurrence records from 13 arthropod groups (6233 arthropod species), we mapped large‐scale richness patterns and identified biodiversity hotspots across the Iberian Peninsula and Balearic Islands. Hotspot congruence among arthropod groups was low, underscoring the importance of integrative, multi‐taxon approaches for conservation ...

Standing on a common ground: a comparison of static stability approaches for pallet loading

open access: yesInternational Transactions in Operational Research, EarlyView.
Abstract At the practical level, the static stability constraint is one of the most important constraints in practical pallet loading problems, such as air cargo palletizing. Approaches to modeling static stability, which range from base support and mechanical equilibrium calculations to physical simulation, differ in workflow, focus, and assumptions ...
