Source rock evaluation by integration of palynology, palynofacies and petrophysical analysis of LEO-1 well of the Niger Delta Basin

International journal of scientific and research publications, 2023
-This study deals with the integration of palynological, palynofacies and petrophysical analysis of shale sediments of the Agbada Formation to evaluate for their source rock potential.

Characterization of Mangrol lignite (Gujarat), India: Petrography, palynology, and palynofacies

International Journal of Coal Geology, 2013
A multidisciplinary approach (petrographical, palynological and palynofacies) has been adopted to characterize and assess the depositional conditions of Eocene Mangrol lignite deposit from western India. The petrographic study reveals that the lignite is composed predominantly of huminite macerals produced from a woody forest.

Evaluation of mixed organic-rich carbonate and shale rocks of Meyal oilfield using an integrated palynofacies, geochemical and petrophysical approaches

Petroleum science and technology, 2023
This study integrated palynological, geochemical, and petrophysical analysis that maybe used to analyze petroleum rocks. Shales and sediments rich in carbonate are essential in assessing the geological history of source rocks for the generation of ...

Palynofacies Analysis and Submicron Pore Modeling of Shale-Gas Plays

North American Unconventional Gas Conference and Exhibition, 2011
Abstract The present study combines palynological applications with advanced microscopic techniques to characterize the Utica, Haynesville and Fayetteville shale-gas source rocks. This unprecedented approach could offer an alternative way to measure the total organic carbon (TOC) content using the 2D subsurface Scanning Electron ...

Some Practical Aspects of Palynofacies Analysis

1995
Much palynofacies work has been done as a secondary exercise within palynostratigraphic studies. Unfortunately, this often means that the samples were collected using a strategy that emphasizes standard sampling intervals and the selection of only those lithologies likely to be most productive in terms of palynomorph yield.

Upper Cretaceous (Cenomanian) Palynostratigraphy and Palynofacies of the Shushan Basin, North Egypt

Palynology
This study provides an updated quantitative analysis and prospective paleoenvironment reconstruction of the Tut oilfield, Shushan Basin, North Egypt to evaluate the hydrocarbon reservoirs in space and times for further development plans and modeling in ...

Palynofacies in upper cretaceous sediments of northern Siberia

Stratigraphy and Geological Correlation, 2010
Different palynomorph groups (spores and pollen of terrestrial plants, dinoflagellate cysts, prasinophytes, acritarchs, Zygnemataceae algae, and others) have been thoroughly studied to define major patterns in their distribution depending on the impact of different environmental factors and to establish their paleoecological characteristics.

High-resolution palynofacies investigation of Kimmeridgian sedimentary cycles

Geological Society, London, Special Publications, 1995
Abstract Palynofacies analysis is used as a tool to investigate in detail the palaeoenvironmental variations through several sedimentary cycles in the Kimmeridge Clay of Kimmeridge Bay, Dorset, UK. Evidence is given of palaeoenvironmental variations within cycles corresponding to those expected for obliquity orbital forcing.

Palynofacies in a Sequence Stratigraphic Context

1995
Sequence stratigraphy is a systematic way of looking at well established and familiar stratigraphic concepts such as eustatic cycles, transgression and regression, diachroneity, and progradation, retrogradation and aggradation. It represents a powerful methodology for modelling and analysing geometric, spatial and temporal patterns of sediment ...

Palynology and palynofacies analysis of the Subathu Formation (Early Ypresian-Middle Lutetian) of Morni Hills, Haryana, India

Journal of Palaeosciences
Palynofossils and sedimentary organic matter recovered from two well exposed stratigraphic sections of the Subathu Formation (early Ypresian to middle Lutetian) outcropping in the Morni Hills, Haryana (Lesser Himalayas) are evaluated to interpret the ...
