Diagnosis of pancreatic cystic lesions by virtual slicing: Comparison of diagnostic potential of needle-based confocal laser endomicroscopy versus endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration

open access: yesJournal of Pathology Informatics, 2019
Background: Pancreatic cystic lesions are often challenging entities for diagnosis and management. EUS-FNA diagnostic accuracy is limited by paucicellularity of cytology specimens and sampling errors.

Tumour–stroma interactions in an organotypic culture model of pancreatic cancer [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
PhDPancreatic cancer is characterised by an intense fibrotic, or desmoplastic, stroma, which contributes to tumour progression. Three-dimensional in vitro culture models incorporating this non-tumour component may more closely recapitulate the ...

Safety and Efficacy of Direct Cryobiopsy Specimen Retrieval Through the 3.0‐mm Working Channel of a Therapeutic Bronchoscope Using a 1.1‐mm Cryoprobe: A Multicentre Prospective Observational Study

open access: yesRespirology, EarlyView.
Safety and efficacy of direct 1.1‐mm cryobiopsy specimen retrieval through a 3.0‐mm therapeutic bronchoscope channel were evaluated. The technique achieved 87.5% overall diagnostic yield, produced specimens three times larger than forceps biopsy, and caused Grade 3 bleeding in only 2.1%.

Surgical Appropriateness of Imaging in Acute Cholecystitis: A Danish Audit

open access: yesSurgical Practice, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Acute cholecystitis is a common surgical condition, most frequently caused by gallstones. Ultrasound is recommended as the first‐line imaging modality, while CT and MRCP are reserved for inconclusive cases or suspected complications.
