Pancreatic duct stents

Journal of Digestive Diseases, 2022
Pancreatic duct stenting using endoscopy or surgery is widely used for the management of benign and malignant pancreatic diseases. Endoscopic pancreatic stents are mainly used to relieve pain caused by chronic pancreatitis and pancreas divisum, and to treat pancreatic duct disruption and stenotic pancreaticointestinal anastomosis after surgery.

Pancreatic Duct Diversity

Pancreas, 2009
The formation of the pancreatic duct system is the result of the fusion of 2 embryonic buds, the ventral and dorsal primordia. Frequently, this fusion process is localized in the pancreatic head; variations, however, may account for the structural diversity of the duct system.

Pancreatic Ducts and Postoperative Pancreatitis

Archives of Surgery, 1963
Sixty years ago, Opie1presented his "Common Channel" theory of the etiology of acute hemorrhagic pancreatitis. The anatomy of the pancreatic ductal septem has been the subject of numerous studies ever since this first report. We have been interested in the anatomy of the ducts of the pancreas relative to the pathogenesis of postoperative pancreatitis.

Pancreatic duct strictures

Current Treatment Options in Gastroenterology, 2000
The treatment of pancreatic duct strictures is based on an accurate assessment of the etiology of the disease, and then the degree of symptomatology. Redrainage of the pancreatic duct in chronic pancreatitis

The American Journal of Surgery, 1986
Recurrent pain after a drainage procedure for chronic pancreatitis is considered an indication for pancreatectomy. To evaluate whether redrainage might be a better alternative, 14 patients who underwent redrainage after a failed pancreaticojejunostomy were reviewed. Patients with previous pseudocyst drainage were excluded.

Pancreatic duct patency after pancreaticoduodenectomy for dilated pancreatic ducts.

Hepato-gastroenterology, 2012
It is important to prevent pancreatic leakage and maintain pancreatic duct patency after pancreaticoduodenectomy (PD). We used an implantation method and a pancreatic stent in pancreaticogastrostomy (PG) and achieved good results without pancreatic leakage; however, PG strictures were observed in some cases.

MRI of the biliary and pancreatic ducts

European Radiology, 1999
Magnetic resonance Cholangiopancreatography (MRCP) is a non-invasive imaging technique able to provide projectional images of the bile ducts. Different sequences, using both breath-hold and non-breath-hold acquisition techniques, have been employed in order to obtain MRCP images. The authors discuss technical aspects, considering both three-dimensional

Pancreatic Duct Drainage in Chronic Pancreatitis

1993
Pancreatic duct drainage is an effective method of dealing with many of the surgical complications of chronic pancreatitis without sacrificing pancreatic endocrine or exocrine function. Between 65 and 90% of patients with intractable pain of chronic pancreatitis and a dilated pancreatic duct will have substantial pain relief with complete ductal ...
