Postoperative Prognostic Nutritional Index as a Useful Prognostic Factor in Patients With Gastric Cancer

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, Volume 9, Issue 6, Page 1181-1190, November 2025.
In patients after gastric cancer surgery, low postoperative PNI values, considering nutritional status, surgical stress, and postoperative inflammatory response, were significantly associated with poor prognosis in terms of both RFS and OS. ABSTRACT Aim To verify whether postoperative prognostic nutritional index is a useful prognostic factor in ...

Prognostic Significance of GLIM‐Defined Malnutrition in Patients With Resectable Pancreatic Adenocarcinoma Following Upfront Surgery

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, Volume 9, Issue 6, Page 1351-1361, November 2025.
The GLIM criteria are effective prognostic predictors in patients with resectable PDAC undergoing upfront surgery. Preoperative nutritional assessment using these criteria may contribute to determining treatment plans for resectable PDAC. ABSTRACT Aim Regarding the resectability of pancreatic adenocarcinoma (PDAC), not only anatomical factors but also ...

A Rare Presentation of Advanced‐Stage Low‐Grade Serous Carcinoma in a 27‐Year‐Old Patient. Navigating a Complex Postoperative Course: Submassive Pulmonary Embolism and a Large Retroperitoneal Haematoma Following Radical Ovarian Cytoreductive Surgery

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 13, Issue 11, November 2025.
ABSTRACT Ovarian Low Grade Serous Carcinoma (LGSC) is a rare gynecological cancer with limited representation in literature. Achieving R0 through maximal cytoreductive effort is indicated to provide the best outcome. Gynecological cancer surgery increases risk of pulmonary embolism—balancing this with bleeding risk complicates the post‐operative ...

Advances in gene therapy for Lafora disease: Intravenous recombinant adeno‐associated virus‐mediated delivery of EPM2A and EPM2B genes

open access: yesClinical and Translational Medicine, Volume 15, Issue 11, November 2025.
Intravenous gene therapy with rAAV2/9P31 vectors delivering EPM2A or EPM2B reversed Lafora disease pathology and restored neuronal function in two mouse models. The approach showed comparable or superior efficacy to intracerebroventricular delivery, with no long‐term toxicity, supporting its translational potential.
