Pancreatic Tuberculosis with a Pancreaticobiliary Fistula
Digestive Diseases and Sciences, 2007Pancreatic tuberculosis (TB) is a rare condition that is sometimes difficult to differentiate from pancreatic cancer or other malignancies. A 75-year-old man was admitted to our hospital because of weight loss, fever, and diarrhea. Abdominal ultrasonography and computed tomography (CT) revealed a 3-cm mass in the pancreas head with abdominal ...

Pancreatitis Presenting as a Colonic Fistula
Archives of Surgery, 1972A case of colonic stenosis and fistula into the surrounding tissues turned out to be due to pancreatitis. It was treated successfully by proximal colostomy and, three weeks later, resection. A review of previous cases reported in the literature revealed that the patient was unusual in that rarely have the colonic obstruction symptoms been the ...

External fistula of the pancreas may be classified as either complete or incomplete. The former commonly involves the intracapitary portion of the duct of Wirsung in such manner that all the pancreatic juice is lost to the body. This event must be exceedingly rare, as the greater number of the reports encountered in the literature deal with external ...

Casopis lekaru ceskych, 1990
The authors analyze the causes, diagnostic and therapeutic procedure in internal pancreatic fistulae. Based on the case-histories of two patients, they demonstrate the importance of ERCP, fistulography, pleurography as well as of surgical tactical procedures. They describe conservative and surgical treatment and their indications.

Pancreatic Fistulas in Acute Pancreatitis
1992The classical description of a fistula is an abnormal communication between epithelial-lined surfaces. It is evident that in a pancreatic fistula one of these surfaces must be the lining of the main pancreatic duct or a major tributary. In acute pancreatitis the integrity of the pancreatic duct can be breached in two ways.

During a retrospective analysis of about 1000 ERCP investigations pancreatic fistulas were found in 14 patients. There is a relationship between proximal stenosis of the pancreatic duct, inflammatory cavities of the pancreas and the development of fistulas. Pancreatic fistulas can be blind, can open into various spaces in the body or can be attached to

Based on 17 observations the authors review the major etiopathogenic, evolutive, clinical and therapeutic aspects of pancreatic fistulae. In 14 cases the cure was achieved by medical treatment while surgery was resorted to in only three cases. The medical measures are discussed, as well as the indications for surgical treatment.

Pancreatic Fistulas in Chronic Pancreatitis
1992Pancreatic fistulas (PFS), both internal and external, are rare in chronic pancreatitis (CP). The former are covered by Cole and Bradley in Chap. 9 and obviously need no further comment; there is perhaps only one sound reason for the description of the latter in a separate chapter: in CP there is often an obstruction to the outflow of pancreatic juice [
