Traditional methods v. new technologies – dilemmas for dietary assessment in large-scale nutrition surveys and studies: a report following an international panel discussion at the 9th International Conference on Diet and Activity Methods (ICDAM9), Brisbane, 3 September 2015

open access: yesJournal of Nutritional Science, 2018
The aim of the present paper is to summarise current and future applications of dietary assessment technologies in nutrition surveys in developed countries.

Establishment of a humanized patient‐derived xenograft mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer for preclinical evaluation of combination immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...

WP 76 - Comparing different weighting procedures for volunteer web surveys [PDF]

open access: yes
The strengths and weaknesses of web surveys have been widely described in the literature. Of particular interest is the question to which degree the obtained results can be generalised for the whole population?

Hippo pathway at the crossroads of stemness and therapeutic resistance in breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dysregulation of the Hippo pathway drives nuclear accumulation of YAP/TAZ, activating stemness‐related transcriptional programs that sustain breast cancer stemness and fuel therapeutic resistance across subtypes, underscoring Hippo signaling as a targetable vulnerability. Figure created and edited with BioRender.com.

Panel conditioning and self-reported satisfaction: Evidence from international panel data and repeated cross-sections [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Using data from three European countries, this paper investigates whether self-reported satisfaction data are subject to panel conditioning or a panel effect, that is, whether answers depend on whether one has previously participated in the panel.

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

Design and implementation of an intensive panel survey with refugees and other migrants in need of protection in Costa Rica.

open access: yesPLoS ONE
Over the last decade, the global population of refugees and other migrants in need of international protection (MNP) has more than doubled. Despite their rapid growth, panel data collection among MNP remains rare, leaving scholars with few data sources ...

Heterozygous loss‐of‐function alleles associate the conserved 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease EXOSC10 with hypersensitivity to the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
EXOSC10, an essential nuclear RNA exosome‐associated 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease, is inhibited by the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil (5‐FU), and EXOSC10 depletion increases 5‐FU sensitivity. The colon‐cancer variant EXOSC10S402T, located in a proteolysis motif, is stable and nuclear but nonfunctional in vivo.

Unit non-response in establishments surveyed for the first time in the IAB Establishment Panel [PDF]

open access: yes
"The aim of this paper is to analyse unit non-response in establishments surveyed for the first time in the IAB Establishment Panel. For this a theoretical framework is presented which helps to explain the decision to participate in establishment surveys.

A household panel as a tool for cost-effective health-related population surveys: validity of the

open access: yesGMS German Medical Science, 2004
Background: Random sample surveys of the population are time consuming and expensive, particularly if international sampling is planned. Method: The Healthcare Access Panel was developed as an alternative to face to face or telephone health survey ...
