EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Why don't they answer? Unit non-response in the IAB Establishment Panel [PDF]

open access: yes
"With the IAB Establishment Panel the Institute for Employment Research (Institut für Arbeitsmarkt- und Berufsforschung - IAB) has conducted a large-scale annual establishment survey in western Germany since 1993 and also in eastern Germany since 1996 ...

Reducing attrition in phone-based panel surveys: best practices and semi-automation for survey workflows

open access: yesPolitical Science Research and Methods
Panel surveys and phone-based data collection are essential for survey research and are often used together due to the practical advantages of conducting repeated interviews over the phone. These tools are particularly critical for research in dynamic or

Effects of different Incentives on Attrition and Fieldwork Effort in Telephone Household Panel Surveys

open access: yesSurvey Research Methods, 2010
Little is known about sample behavior and fieldwork effects of different incentives introduced in a household panel survey. This is especially true for telephone surveys.

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

Measuring Income in Household Panel Surveys for Germany: A Comparison of EU-SILC and SOEP [PDF]

open access: yes
Empirical analyses of economic inequality, poverty, and mobility in Germany are, to an increas-ing extent, using microdata from the German Federal Statistical Office's contribution to the European Union Statistics on Income and Living Conditions (EU-SILC)

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

Individual and Neighborhood Determinants of Survey Nonresponse: An Analysis Based on a New Subsample of the German Socio-Economic Panel (SOEP), Microgeographic Characteristics and Survey-Based Interviewer Characteristics [PDF]

open access: yes
This study examines the phenomenon of nonresponse in the first wave of a refresher sample (subsample H) of the German Socio-Economic Panel Study (SOEP). Our first step is to link additional (commercial) microgeographic data on the immediate neighborhoods

Improving knowledge about disability transitions by adding retrospective information to panel surveys. Population Health Metrics

open access: yesPopulation Health Metrics, 2006
Background Panel data are often used to estimate key measures of public health, such as years lived with and without disability. Panel surveys commonly measure disability at intervals of one or two years, and occasionally more than two. It is likely that

Dual PI3K/AKT and CDK4/6 inhibition reveals selective sensitivity in an SHH medulloblastoma stem cell model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Targeted therapy was evaluated in SHH medulloblastoma using neuroepithelial stem cell (NES) and tumor‐derived NES‐like (tNES) models in 2D monolayers and 3D spheroids. PI3K, AKT, and CDK4/6 inhibitors had minimal effects in NES but markedly reduced viability and growth and induced apoptosis in tNES cells, revealing distinct therapeutic vulnerabilities.
