Flooding Tolerance of Fall Panicum and Texas Panicum

Weed Science, 1972
Fall panicum (Panicum dichotomiflorum Michx.) and Texas panicum (Panicum texanum Buckl.) were grown in the greenhouse under flooding treatments of 0, 6, and 9 days in 10 for 1 month. Fall panicum was more tolerant of flooded soil than was Texas panicum. Root development of Texas panicum was reduced by 50% under all flooding treatments. Herbage and root

Callus induction and plant regeneration in Panicum bisulcatum and Panicum milioides

Plant Cell Reports, 1986
Surface sterilized seeds and mesocotyls from sterile seedlings from Panicum bisulcatum Thumb., as well as basal parts of leaves and mesocotyls from sterile seedlings, and seeds from Panicum milioides Nees ex. Trin were used as explants to induce callus on a Murashige and Skoog medium supplemented with 2.5 to 10 mg/l of 2,4-D.

Rust fungi on Panicum

Mycologia, 2017
Rusts are economically important diseases of switchgrass (Panicum virgatum) and other Paniceae grasses. Phylogenetic analyses based on sequences of the nuc rDNA 5.8S internal transcribed spacer 2 region (ITS2), partial 28S region, and intergenic spacer region (IGS) of nuc rDNA showed that species of rust fungi infecting switchgrass are closely related ...

Aspects of Seed Dormancy in Fall Panicum (Panicum dichotomiflorum)

Weed Science, 1980
Caryopses (seeds) of fall panicum(Panicum dichotomiflorumMichx.) have a dormancy that is not easily overcome. Although accelerated after-ripening for 4 weeks was partially successful in overcoming dormancy, a dark imbibition at 35 C for about a week was more effective and also interacted strongly with an accelerated after-ripening.
