About the Linnaean name Lupinus stoloniferus (Fabaceae) and those linked to it

open access: yesTAXON, Volume 75, Issue 2, April 2026.
Abstract In this paper, we discuss the Linnaean name Lupinus stoloniferus, published for a species first described by the Sicilian Francesco Cupani and later neglected by Linnaeus himself. We demonstrate that Linnaeus's concept of L. stoloniferus corresponds to the Mediterranean taxon later widely known as L.

Active Plume, Abandoned Ridge, or Ancient Slab? olivine‐Hosted Melt Inclusions Record the Mantle Melting Conditions Below the East Pacific Revillagigedo Archipelago, Mexico

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, Volume 27, Issue 4, April 2026.
Abstract The voluminous active volcanoes of the Revillagigedo Islands of Socorro and San Benedicto in the east Pacific Ocean exhibit hotspot geochemistry. However, the presence of a deep mantle plume has not been seismologically confirmed. Instead, a fossil subducted slab is identified in the lower mantle underneath the volcanoes. Moreover, the islands

The Neolithic Site of Piano dei Cardoni in the Island of Ustica (Italy): Minero‐Petrographic and Chemical Characterization of the Ceramic Finds and Clayey Raw Materials

open access: yesGeoarchaeology, Volume 41, Issue 2, March/April 2026.
ABSTRACT This paper presents the results of minero‐petrographic and chemical analyses of pottery and potential local raw materials from Ustica, a small volcanic island off the coast of Palermo (Sicily), inhabited during the Middle Neolithic. Typologically, the pottery shows cultural connections to the Bicromica and Serra d'Alto traditions, linking ...

Melting, Differentiation and Degassing at the Pantelleria Volcano, Italy [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Petrology, 2012
We present the results of the first systematic study of melt compositions at Pantelleria, based on both melt inclusions and matrix glasses in pantellerites from 10 eruptions during the last eruptive cycle (<45 kyr). We present major and trace element compositions, as well as data on the volatiles sulphur (S), fluorine (F), chlorine (Cl), water (H2O),

Ice Multiplication Modulates the Medicane's Track and Thermodynamic Evolution

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 3, 16 February 2026.
Abstract Medicanes are high‐impact weather systems in the Mediterranean region, associated with floodings, severe damage and human casualties. While there has been continuous effort to understand the dynamic aspects of these systems, little is known about the underlying cloud‐scale processes, which cannot be resolved explicitly, consisting a notorious ...

Genetic Assignment at Different Geographical Levels: A Case Study in a Forest Tree Species (Pinus pinaster Ait.) Using SNP Markers

open access: yesEvolutionary Applications, Volume 18, Issue 12, December 2025.
ABSTRACT Genetic markers can assist in the identification of the stock origin in different organisms. Comparative studies of forest tree provenances have demonstrated that forest tree populations differ in performance across environments and at multiple geographic levels: populations nested within regions nested within gene pools.
