Megabeds in the Marsili Basin, Tyrrhenian Sea

open access: yesBasin Research, Volume 37, Issue 6, November/December 2025.
Widepsread and thick megabeds occur in the Marsili Basin of the Tyrrhenian Sea. Megabeds are linked to volcanic eruptions. The Marsili megabeds are recorded by thick turbidites to complex and heterogeneous deposits. ABSTRACT Megabeds, also known as ‘megaturbidites,’ are exceptionally large submarine sediment deposits likely formed by catastrophic ...

Phylogenomics of Messor harvester ants (Hymenoptera: Formicidae: Stenammini) unravels their biogeographical origin and diversification patterns La phylogénomique des fourmis moissonneuses Messor (Hymenoptera: Formicidae: Stenammini) clarifie leur origine biogéographique et leurs patrons de diversification

open access: yesSystematic Entomology, Volume 50, Issue 4, Page 1025-1040, October 2025.
Phylogenomic analysis of 2524 ultraconserved‐element loci from 58 Messor harvester ant species helps in redefining taxonomic groups of the genus. Messor ants emerged in the Irano‐Indian area around 20 million years ago, rapidly dispersing to the Western Palaearctic and Northeastern Africa during the early Miocene.

From Magma Formation to Eruption: Temperature Path of Two Late Carboniferous Post‐Collisional Calderas (Bohemian Massif)

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, Volume 26, Issue 5, May 2025.
Abstract The thermal evolution of magmatic systems of the Altenberg‐Teplice and Tharandter Wald calderas, which erupted during the terminal post‐collisional phase of the Variscan orogeny in the Bohemian Massif, was investigated. The zircon saturation temperatures and Ti‐in‐zircon thermometer indicate that the intrusive and extrusive units of the two ...
