We report here a case of osteoarticular infection associated with Panton-Valentine leukocidin-producing Staphylococcus aureus. The 3-year-old child presented osteoarthritis associated with toxic shock syndrome, which was complicated by thrombosis, pneumonia, and diaphysitis, despite appropriate antibiotic treatment. Panton‐Valentine Leukocidin‐Producing Staphylococcal aureus: Report of Four Siblings
Pediatric Dermatology, 2011Abstract: Panton‐Valentine leukocidin (PVL)‐producing Staphylococcus aureus results in leukocyte destruction and tissue necrosis (Pediatric Dermatology 2007;24:401). It can be associated with a spectrum of clinical manifestations that range from localized staphylococcal skin infections to sometimes severe necrotizing pneumonia (Clin Infect Dis 1999;29:

Necrotising pneumonia, Staphylococcus aureus and Panton-Valentine leukocidin
Intensive Care Society. Journal, 2008The Panton-Valentin leukocidin (PVL) strain of meticillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is producing a new pattern of MRSA-related disease in the UK and world-wide. PVL is one of several extracellular cytotoxins produced by Staphylococcus aureus, and is usually associated with skin and soft tissue infections. PVL MRSA is uncommon in hospitals,

Annales francaises d'anesthesie et de reanimation, 2015Panton-Valentine leukocidin-producing Staphylococcus aureus necrotizing pneumonia is an unusual cause of community-acquired pneumonia associated with a high fatality rate. The specificities of its presentation must be known by the critical care doctor, in order to quickly make the diagnosis and start the right antibiotics and discuss adjunctive therapy
