Spiny lobster Panulirus homarus which had been exposed to cupric ion at 9.55 and 19.1 μg/l for 28 days was examined for sub-lethal effects including morphology, wet weight, and induced genotoxic effect on the chromosome. Following cupric exposure, the color of lobster P.

Captive breeding of the spiny lobster, Panulirus homarus
New Zealand Journal of Marine and Freshwater Research, 2005Abstract Captive broodstock of the spiny lobster, Panulirus homarus, mated successfully and produced more than 105 spawnings over 4 years. Improvements in nutrition and rearing conditions increased the number of spawnings from less than 2, to 4 per year.

Origin and nature of spermatophoric mass of the spiny lobster Panulirus homarus
Marine Biology, 1985In the spiny lobster Panulirus homarus (Linnaeus) the spermatophoric mass consists of a highly convoluted tube, containing the sperm mass and a gelatinous matrix. The spermatophoric components have their origin in the proximal vas deferens and the completed spermatophoric mass is stored within the distal dilated part of the vas deferens.

The susceptibility of two species of lobsters, Panulirus homarus and Panulirus ornatus to white spot syndrome virus (WSSV) was tested by oral route and intramuscular injection. The results revealed that these lobsters were as highly susceptible as marine shrimp when the WSSV was administered intramuscularly.

A Revision of the Panulirus Homarus-Group of Spiny Lobsters (Decapoda, Palinuridae)

Mercury, arsenic, cadmium and lead in lobster (Panulirus homarus) from the Persian Gulf
Toxicology and Industrial Health, 2011Concentrations of four toxic metals including mercury, arsenic, lead and cadmium in lobster ( Panulirus homarus) muscles from the Persian Gulf were determined by graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry. Heavy metals concentrations in muscle samples were 32-73 μg/kg for mercury, 118-275 μg/kg for arsenic, 379-1120 μg/kg for lead and 101-401 μg ...

Using acetylthiocholine as substrate, microscopically localizable cholinesterase (ChE) activity is demonstrated in neural and glial elements of central and peripheral nervous systems of the lobsters, Panulirus argus and Homarus americanus. Moderate to very intense ChE activity occurs in all synaptic regions of the central ganglia and stomatogastric ...

Ammonia excretion dynamics in the east coast rock lobster Panulirus homarus rubellus
Aquaculture, 2009Abstract An understanding of the ammonia excretion dynamics of the east coast rock lobster Panulirus homarus rubellus is necessary to inform suitable holding, growout and transport protocols. The effect of body weight, emersion, daily rhythm, feeding and ambient ammonia on the total ammonia nitrogen (TAN) excretion rate was investigated.

The high export value of the Indian spiny lobster Panulirus homarus increasingly attracts the aquaculturists for farming and fattening. However, lack of knowledge on the effect of environmental parameters on the immune system of this animal could result in high mortality, which ultimately may cause major loss to the industry. Here, we report the effect
