Temporal and spatial variations of propagule deposition in the riparian zones of mountain rivers
Abstract Although dispersal is important for riparian plants, few studies have evaluated the variations of species richness and composition of propagules deposited by different dispersal mechanisms. In the present study, we evaluate the temporal and spatial variations in the diversity of propagules deposited by hydrochory and by other types of ...

Diversity and distribution of lacustrine diatoms along the Trans‐Mexican Volcanic Belt
Abstract The Trans‐Mexican Volcanic Belt is recognised as a highly biodiverse zone and we present a study of diatom diversity and species distributions in its lakes. We aimed to identify diatom taxa with the highest regional occupancy, explore diversity at a regional level, identify the main variables associated with species distributions, and present ...

Abstract Aim The proximate ecological and evolutionary processes underlying the high biodiversity of neotropical montane cloud forests are still very poorly understood. Climatic oscillations may have contributed to vicariance and cladogenesis, but also promoted secondary contact and erosion of genetic divergence.

Weed management and tillage effect on rainfed maize production in three agro‐ecologies in Mexico
Abstract Maize (Zea mays L.) is grown in a wide range of agro‐ecological environments and production systems across Mexico. Weeds are a major constraint on maize grain yield, but knowledge regarding the best weed management methods is lacking. In many production systems, reducing tillage could lessen land degradation and production costs, but changes ...

Physicochemical Properties, Antioxidant Capacity, and Sensory of Ready‐to‐Eat Flakes of Blue Corn and Purple Sweet Potato Blends [PDF]
The physicochemical properties, antioxidant capacity, and sensory characteristics of ready‐to‐eat flakes formulated from blends of blue corn flour (BCF) and purple sweet potato flour (PSPF) were evaluated. Blending these raw materials represents a promising strategy for the development of functional ready‐to‐eat cereals due to their complementary ...

Environment‐driven changes in diversity of riparian plant communities along a mountain river
Along the rivers, it is possible to observe patterns in the diversity of plants. We find that in mountain rivers the species richness decreases; there is an increase in the turnover and absence of nesting of the communities along the rivers.

Trait‐based climate vulnerability of native rodents in southwestern Mexico
We used a trait‐based approach together with climate exposure models to evaluate the potential vulnerability of rodent species to climate change in Oaxaca, the most mammal‐diverse state in Mexico. Depending on the climate scenario, most to all species were projected to have some level of vulnerability with narrow and restricted range species projected ...
