Will modified Papanicolaou stain be the new stain for keratin?
Journal of Histotechnology, 2014The aim of the study is to compare hematoxylin and eosin (HE these were not apparent in the H&E stained slides. The review of this study suggest that the PAP stain more clearly demonstrated key morphological features, associated with keratinization, and it may be considered as a supplemental staining procedure, aiding in diagnosis.

Objective evaluation of Papanicolaou staining.
Analytical and quantitative cytology and histology, 1998To evaluate the color of cytoplasm stained by Papanicolaou staining quantitatively.Cytoplasm photographed under the same conditions was measured for spectral reflection by colorimetry, and the color of the cytoplasm was shown by the L*a*b* color specification. This method enabled us to specify the color of cytoplasm, which was classified in light green,

Demonstration ofChlamydia trachomatis in papanicolaou-stained gynecological smears
European Journal of Clinical Microbiology & Infectious Diseases, 1998A fluorescent antibody staining method was developed to detect Chlamydia trachomatis elementary bodies in Papanicolaou-stained cervical smears. Twenty-five known chlamydia-positive and 12 chlamydia-negative smears were correctly identified using this method.

A Modified Papanicolaou Stain for Cytological Structures
Journal of Histotechnology, 1982AbstractA modified stain for general routine cytology use is presented. This stain is basically that of Papanicolaou, but prepared as a single prebuffered powder in 95% ethanol to make one staining solution. The tinctorial patterns are similar to its predecessor — thus cell identification presents little difficulty.

To standardize an inexpensive and rapid Papanicolaou staining technique with limited ethanol usage.Smears from 200 patients were collected (2 per patient) and fixed in methanol. Half were subjected to conventional Papanicolaou and half to stain ing with rapid, economical, acetic acid Papanicolaou (REAP) stain.

Papanicolaou staining--a review.
Microscopica acta, 1983Some technical aspects of Papanicolaou staining are reviewed. The history of the technique is traced from Mallory's aniline blue technique through Masson's trichrome procedure to the techniques of Shorr. The histochemistry of the three Papanicolaou staining solutions (aluminum-"hematoxylin", OG and EA) is discussed.

Comparison of Papanicolaou staining and Feulgen staining for automated prescreening.
Analytical and quantitative cytology, 1983Feulgen staining is considered to be a quantitative DNA-specific cytochemical procedure. The applicability of this staining in high-resolution cytometry was tested in comparison with a regressive Papanicolaou staining. Papanicolaou-stained or Feulgen-stained intermediate and carcinoma cells selected by a cytologist were examined with a Zeiss scanning ...
