On Perturbation Theory of Electromagnetic Cavity Resonators [PDF]

open access: yes, 1954
In this note the Lagrangian function for the electromagnetic field of a cavity resonator is found. And from this Lagrangian is deduced a perturbation formula which includes Müller's celebrated result as a special case.

Highly Anisotropic Quasi‐Direct Organic Metal Halide Hybrids: A Platform for Polarization‐Sensitive Optoelectronics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
One‐dimensional C4N2H14PbBr4 is shown to have a quasi‐direct electronic band structure and strongly anisotropic transport with polarized broadband emission. A GW/Bethe–Salpeter excited‐state force formalism, supported by polarized Raman and temperature‐dependent photoluminescence, identifies low–frequency Pb–Br phonons that drive ultrafast exciton self‐

Evaluation of diagnostic performance simple non-invasıve fibrosis markers in patients with chronic hepatitis B

open access: yesThe Turkish Journal of Gastroenterology, 2019
INTRODUCTION: Determining stage of liver fibrosis is crucical for timing of theraphy in chronic hepatitis b (CHB) patients. Also it is important predictor of disease prognosis and response to treatment.

Analysis of broadband microwave conductivity and permittivity measurements of semiconducting materials

open access: yes, 2008
We perform broadband phase sensitive measurements of the reflection coefficient from 45 MHz up to 20 GHz employing a vector network analyzer with a 2.4 mm coaxial sensor which is terminated by the sample under test.

Controlling Film Formation in Inkjet‐printed MAPbBr3 Through Graphene Incorporation for Enhanced Photodetection

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This work highlights the impact of incorporating graphene nanoflakes into precursor inks of MAPbBr3 for inkjet‐printed optoelectronic device applications. A substantial modification of the crystallization dynamics is reported despite miniscule concentrations.

Meeting the challenge of mitigating Li-ion battery fires for aviation

open access: yesApplications in Energy and Combustion Science
The aviation industry faces a pressing challenge in reducing its environmental footprint, especially with the projected growth in global passenger traffic. Electrification and more-electric aircraft, particularly through Lithium-ion Battery (LiB) systems,

Latins versus Uniates in sixteenth century Malta [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
On their expulsion from Rhodes in January 1523 the Knights of St John were followed by a Greek refugee community which originally numbered around 5,000 in 1530. Most of these had eventually settled in Birgu and came to form three Greek parishes there. It

From Strain to Pressure: Atomically Resolved Mechanisms of Stress Dissipation in Emissive, Elastically Deformable Molecular Crystals Under Ambient and High Pressure

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Molecular crystals must withstand both isotropic and anisotropic stress to function in flexible optoelectronics and high‐pressure devices. In situ high‐pressure single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction coupled with DFT‐D computations reveal how an emissive molecular crystal with interdigitated packing bends elastically at ambient‐pressure and remains ...

Radiative Cooling by Green(er) Solvents‐Upcycled Polyvinyl Chloride From Drug Blisters Waste

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
This study explores upcycling poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) from used pharmaceutical blisters into sustainable radiative cooling materials. Using solvent separation and membrane fabrication, PVC was converted into white membranes paired with aluminum foil.
