Establishing an assay to evaluate d‐amino acid oxidase enzyme kinetics and inhibition using WST‐8 redox dye

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study investigated a novel WST‐8‐based assay for evaluating d‐Amino acid oxidase (DAO) inhibitors. We confirmed its effectiveness using known inhibitors and found that uremic toxins possess relatively weak inhibitory activity compared to existing drugs.

Arrayed Force Sensors Made of Paper, Elastomer, and Hydrogel Particles

open access: yesMicromachines, 2017
This article presents a sensor for detecting the distribution of forces on a surface. The device with nine buttons consisted of an elastomer-based layer as a touch interface resting on a substrate of patterned metallized paper.

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

A paper‐based bi‐enzymatic sensor for chemiresistive glucose detection

open access: yesView
At‐home testing of glucose levels is crucial for safe monitoring of a variety of diseases, such as pancreatitis, psoriasis, cirrhosis, acute myocardial infarction, and, of course, diabetes.

Energy-efficient sensing in wireless sensor networks using compressed sensing [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Sensing of the application environment is the main purpose of a wireless sensor network. Most existing energy management strategies and compression techniques assume that the sensing operation consumes significantly less energy than radio transmission ...

Screening and epitope characterization of Nidogen‐2‐specific nanobodies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Camel immunization and phage display were employed to generate high‐affinity VHH nanobodies against Nidogen‐2. After library construction, biopanning, ELISA screening, sequencing, and recombinant expression, selected nanobodies were purified and characterized, leading to the preliminary exploration of a nanobody‐based sandwich ELISA for specific ...

Laser-pyrolyzed electrochemical paper-based analytical sensor for sulphite analysis

open access: yesElectrochemistry Communications, 2019
A CO2 laser can be used to pyrolyze the surface of common paperboard to produce a conductive carbon material for subsequent use as an electrode for general electrochemical measurements.

Real-time information processing of environmental sensor network data using Bayesian Gaussian processes

open access: yes, 2012
In this article, we consider the problem faced by a sensor network operator who must infer, in real time, the value of some environmental parameter that is being monitored at discrete points in space and time by a sensor network.
