Efficacy and safety of endoscopic submucosal dissection versus endoscopic papillectomy for managing laterally spreading duodenal papillary tumors [PDF]

open access: yesClinical Endoscopy
Background/Aim Endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) can be performed to treat laterally spreading duodenal papillary tumors (LSPTs). However, no studies have been conducted on the outcomes of ESD for LSPTs.

The role of miR‐335‐5p in the redifferentiation of BRAF p.V600E thyroid cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The BRAF p.V600E mutation promotes thyroid cancer dedifferentiation and radioiodine resistance. Using a network approach, we identified miR‐335‐5p as a key regulator of BRAF‐mutated thyroid tumors. Restoring miR‐335‐5p increased thyroid‐specific gene expression and iodine uptake in cells and organoids.

Factors influencing successful radioiodine therapy of thyroid [PDF]

open access: yesArchive of Oncology, 2003
Background: Well-known fact is that the good surgical treatment, leaving only small residuals of thyroid tissue, is the outmost valid predictive factor of successful ablative radioiodine treatment. Assuming that all patients had state of the art surgical

Evaluation of SOX9 Expression in Pancreatic Ductal Adenocarcinoma and Intraductal Papillary Mucinous Neoplasm [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
OBJECTIVES: Sex-determining region Y (SRY) box 9 (SOX9) is an important transcription factor required for development and has been implicated in several types of cancer.

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.

Identification and Optimal Postsurgical Follow-Up of Patients with Very Low-Risk Papillary Thyroid Microcarcinomas

open access: yes, 2010
CONTEXT: Most papillary thyroid microcarcinomas (PTMCs; ≤ 1 cm diameter) are indolent low-risk tumors, but some cases behave more aggressively. Controversies have thus arisen over the optimum postoperative surveillance of PTMC patients. OBJECTIVES:

BRAF Mutations in Papillary Thyroid Carcinoma: A Genomic Approach Using Probe-Based DNA Capture for Next-Generation Sequencing

open access: yes, 2022
The BRAF V600E mutation in papillary thyroid carcinoma is the major mutation in classical subtype of papillary thyroid carcinoma and other cancers. It is the most studied predictor of clinical and pathological characteristics as well as molecular targets

Clinical performance of the urine‐based TERT promoter AbsoluteQ Digital PCR for non‐invasive detection of bladder cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A urine‐based digital PCR assay targeting two hotspot TERT promoter variants detected bladder cancer with high sensitivity and no false positives in this case–control cohort. The streamlined AbsoluteQ workflow outperformed Sanger sequencing and supports non‐invasive molecular testing for bladder cancer detection.

Cystic Lesions of the Pancreas [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
With the increasing use of abdominal imaging, cystic lesions of the pancreas are being more frequently detected. These lesions may carry a significant premalignant potential.
