Changes in penetrability of bovine papillary duct to endotoxin after milking
American Journal of Veterinary Research, 1983SUMMARY The relative penetrability of bovine papillary ducts was assayed using frequency of inflammatory response to implantation of Escherichia coli endotoxin at a depth of 3 mm. Penetrability immediately after machine milking, compared with penetrability after delays of 10 to 480 minutes, indicated a decrease in frequency of penetrability to a ...

SUMMARY To determine whether there is a reciprocal relationship between penetrability of the papillary duct of the teat (streak canal) and phagocytic capability, 3 cows with highly penetrable papillary ducts and 3 with ducts highly resistant against penetration were identified, using a penetrability assay. Leukocytes harvested from milk from these cows

Assay of Penetrability of Bovine Papillary Duct Implanted with Escherichia coli Endotoxin
American Journal of Veterinary Research, 1981SUMMARY A method has been developed to assay the relative penetrability to a solute of the papillary duct (streak canal) of the bovine teat. Escherichia coli lipopolysaccharide endotoxin (1.0 μg in 2.5 μl of sterile distilled water) was implanted at a depth of 3 mm from the distal end (papillary orifice) of the papillary duct.

SUMMARY It has been suggested that machine milking causes the papillary sphincter muscle (teat sphincter muscle) to relax or to stretch and therefore increases the probability of successful penetration of the papillary duct (streak canal) by microorganisms.

We report a case of intraductal papillary mucinous carcinoma(IPMC)penetrating the colon in an 82-year-old man. He visited our hospital with left upper abdominal pain. Abdominal CT showed IPMC of the pancreatic tail, measuring 7 cm, with tumor penetration to the colon and retrograde infection.

SUMMARYPenetrability of the bovine teat duct toEscherichia coliendotoxin solution was measured before and after reaming the duct with a polypropylene tube, a steel twist drill bit, or a fluted drill point. There was some evidence of a transient increase in penetrability for one or two milkings following reaming but most ducts were not rendered ...

A 60-year-old patient with a history of chronic pancreatitis and insulin-dependent diabetes was admitted to our hospital with a deeply excavated duodenal ulcer showing no signs of regression under 4-week parenteral nutrition and proton pump inhibitor therapy. Radiologic and endoscopic diagnostics could demonstrate a primary tumor of the pancreatic head

A 69-year-old woman was admitted to a nearby clinic complaining of abdominal pain. Abdominal CT showed a 10 cm diameter huge cystic lesion in the body and tail of the pancreas. The patient was referred to our institution for treatment. Endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS) revealed a cystic mass with a solid lesion. Endoscopic retrograde pancreatography(ERP)

A 74-year-old man was admitted to a nearby clinic complaining of high fever. Abdominal CT showed a 10 mm diameter cystic mass in the head of pancreas and dilation of the pancreatic duct. Endoscopy revealed a fistula filled with mucin in the posterior wall of the duodenum. The patient was referred to our institution for a surgical resection.
