ESTRUCTURA DE RODALES DE Pinus hartwegii AFECTADOS POR INCENDIOS UTILIZANDO PARÁMETROS DE VECINDAD EN LA SIERRA MADRE ORIENTAL, MÉXICO

open access: yesTropical and Subtropical Agroecosystems, 2012

The objective of this research was to characterize the pattern of spatial structure of a Pinus hartwegii forest in the Sierra Madre Oriental, affected by a fire in 1998. Sampling was stratified by fire severity. Three fire severity classes were defined based on the degree of crown consumption (low, medium and high).

Avaliação do desempenho dos diferentes métodos de interpoladores para parâmetros do balanço hídrico climatológico. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
A geoestatística está associada a uma classe de técnicas utilizadas para analisar e inferir valores de uma variável distribuída no espaço ou no tempo, mediante o que se propôs, no presente trabalho avaliar, através de diferentes técnicas de interpolação,

Knee height is often right: evaluating device height effects on camera trapping rate

open access: yesRemote Sensing in Ecology and Conservation, EarlyView.
Camera trap deployment height can introduce systematic biases in detection trapping rates across species of different body sizes. Combining 172 paired sampling points in five experiments across Europe, North America and Africa, our results show that low cameras significantly increase detections of small‐ and medium‐sized species, whereas high cameras ...

Structured machine learning modeling to support conservation of deep‐sea benthic biodiversity

open access: yesConservation Biology, EarlyView.
Abstract Biodiversity monitoring programs need to deliver accurate, timely, and actionable predictions. To establish a predictive monitoring program for deep‐sea benthos of the Santos Basin, Brazil, we developed a two‐stage structured model that allowed comparison of biodiversity predictions obtained from environmental simulations (2M‐Sim).

Thermal Gradient Changes Caused by Water in the Soil [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The heat flow density data published in the Geothermal Atlas of Europe (1992) show relatively high values for temperature gradients measured in holes in the SW area (Portugal and Spain) of the Iberian Peninsula.

Monitoring wildlife health for diseases with visible signs by integrating camera traps with marked individuals

open access: yesConservation Biology, EarlyView.
Abstract Monitoring wildlife health is essential for conservation and management, wildlife and livestock welfare, and public health in a One Health framework. Yet, wildlife health monitoring often requires long‐term fieldwork and intensive sampling, which can be costly or logistically challenging, especially for remote, rare, or elusive populations. To
