A “Dangerous Vessel” — Description of a potentially hazardous vein during para-aortic lymphadenectomy

open access: yesNational Journal of Clinical Anatomy, 2020
Background and Objectives: Tributaries of inferior vena cava (IVC) are not com pletely described. As IVC has a complex developmental origin, variations in the feeding vessels are common.

Robotic retroperitoneal lower para‐aortic lymphadenectomy in cervical carcinoma: First report on the technique used in 5 patients

open access: yes, 2008
Objective. Retroperitoneal para-aortic laparoscopic lymphadenectomy is a technically challenging operation. The robotic Da Vinci system might be valuable in this operation due to a steady three-dimensional visualization, instrumentation with articulating

Comparison Between Upfront Surgery and Preoperative Chemotherapy for CY1P0 Gastric Cancer: A Japanese Sub‐Analysis of CONVO‐GC‐1

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, Volume 10, Issue 4, Page 1021-1030, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Radical gastrectomy, followed by adjuvant chemotherapy has been a common practice in Japan for peritoneal lavage cytology‐positive (CY1) but peritoneal dissemination‐negative (P0) stage IV gastric cancer. This study aimed to clarify the differences in treatment outcomes between upfront surgery and preoperative chemotherapy, followed

Survival benefit of extended lymphadenectomy in endometrial cancer: a meta-analysis with risk-stratified subgroup analysis

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology
ObjectiveTo systematically evaluate the effect of combined pelvic and para-aortic lymphadenectomy (PPaLND) versus pelvic lymphadenectomy alone (PLND) or no lymphadenectomy on overall survival (OS) in patients with endometrial cancer, with a focus on risk-

Combined pelvic and para-aortic is superior to only pelvic lymphadenectomy in intermediate and high-risk endometrial cancer: a systematic review and meta-analysis

open access: yes, 2020
BACKGROUND: Lymph node metastasis is a principal prognostic factor for the treatment of endometrial cancer. Added value of para-aortic lymphadenectomy to only pelvic lymphadenectomy for intermediate/high-risk endometrial cancer patients remains ...

Indocyanine green‐guided robotic‐assisted mesorectal lymphadenectomy for high‐risk T1 rectal carcinoma: Preliminary results of a prospective cohort study (IDEAL stage 2a)

open access: yesColorectal Disease, Volume 28, Issue 7, July 2026.
Abstract Aim Lymph node metastases occur in 10%–15% of high‐risk T1 rectal tumours. Total mesorectal excision remains the standard treatment, whereas chemoradiotherapy is reserved for patients with frailty. Indocyanine green (ICG)‐guided lymphadenectomy may represent an organ‐preserving alternative for patients at high risk of node metastasis.

Lymph Node Metastasis Pattern and Influencing Factors in Esophageal Squamous Cell Carcinoma

open access: yesAGING MEDICINE, Volume 9, Issue 3, Page 229-235, June 2026.
Among 388 patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma who underwent curative resection, 144 (37.1%) developed lymph node metastasis. Upper thoracic tumors mainly involved upper mediastinal and upper right paratracheal nodes, whereas lower thoracic tumors more often involved paracardial and abdominal nodes.
