Fibril Structure of Desiccation-Protective Tardigrade Protein CAHS-8. [PDF]
We present the atomic structure of the fibril formed by an intrinsically disordered protein that has been shown to be responsible for remarkable environmental stress in tardigrades. X‐ray crystallography reveals a unique mechanism of fibril assembly whereby a single helix forms a stable, antiparallel coiled‐coil dimer, which then assembles into a ...

"Everything is not everywhere": Time-calibrated phylogeography of the genus Milnesium (Tardigrada). [PDF]
Abstract There is ample evidence that macroscopic animals form geographic clusters termed as zoogeographic realms, whereas distributions of species of microscopic animals are still poorly understood. The common view has been that micrometazoans, thanks to their putatively excellent dispersal abilities, are subject to the “Everything is everywhere but ...

Tardigrades species exhibit differential sensitivity to synthetic acid rain and natural occurring acids based on pH, acid nature, exposure duration, and species (freshwater species exhibit greater resistance). Aragonite piercing stylets of feeding apparatus maintain their morphology when tardigrades are exposed to acids.

Search for putative gene regulatory motifs in CAHS3, linked to anhydrobiosis in a tardigrade Ramazzottius varieornatus, in vivo and in silico. [PDF]
Tardigrades can survive in an almost completely dehydrated state, known as anhydrobiosis, aided by proteins like CAHS3. Research using a newly developed tardigrade‐specific vector revealed that CAHS3 expression is most pronounced in the epidermis, suggesting tissue‐specific regulation rather than uniform expression.

The wealth of shared resources: Improving molecular taxonomy using eDNA and public databases
Abstract Public databases such as the NCBI's GenBank have been used as repositories for genomic studies for more than 30 years. In this time, our understanding of the natural world, and especially the genomic world, has expanded vastly, and the size of these databases represent this genomic revolution.

Abstract The Tardigrada are a clade with a disputed and complex taxonomy. The three traditional tardigrade classes are the Heterotardigrada, Eutardigrada and the dubious, monotypic Mesotardigrada. A recent molecular study by Guil et al (Zoologica Scripta, 48, 2019, 120) suggested that the Apochela, previously considered an order of Eutardigrada, should

Construction of cascade dams has been shown to have impacts on fish assemblages and biodiversity. Yet, there is no literature on fish assemblages in the Murum River that connects the cascading Bakun and Murum dams in Sarawak, Malaysia. Hence, study on this modified ecosystem is necessitated to better understand the effects of the cascade dam ...

Debido a la gran cantidad de especies y a las dificultades en su identificación morfológica, muchos estudios taxonómicos actuales de tardígrados se basan en el uso de técnicas genéticas y moleculares. En Colombia son necesarios estudios enfocados en esta
