Pre‐treatment with D942, a furancarboxylic acid derivative, increases desiccation tolerance in an anhydrobiotic tardigrade Hypsibius exemplaris

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, Volume 10, Issue 9, Page 1774-1781, September 2020., 2020
The tardigrade Hypsibius exemplaris has low tolerance to direct exposure to 50% relative humidity (RH) without preconditioning in a high RH environment. However, tardigrades pre‐treated with D942, a furancarboxylic acid derivative, partially acquired desiccation tolerance against 50% or even lower RH without preconditioning.

Experimental taxonomy exposes ontogenetic variability and elucidates the taxonomic value of claw configuration in Milnesium Doyère, 1840 (Tardigrada : Eutardigrada : Apochela) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
In this paper we describe a new apochelan species, Milnesium variefidum sp. nov. from Scotland and provide novel morphological and molecular data for Milnesium berladnicorum Ciobanu et al., 2014.

open access: yesRevista Mexicana de Biodiversidad
Five samples of mosses and 2 samples of lichens were collected within the Cantera Oriente, in southern Mexico City. In total, 110 tardigrades and 27 eggs, belonging to 2 orders (Apochela and Parachela), 4 families (Milnesiidae, Hypsibiidae ...

On the systematic position of the genus Fractonotus (Eutardigrada, Parachela)

open access: yesThe European Zoological Journal
The genus Fractonotus was erected on the basis of the peculiar appearance of the apophyses for the insertion of the stylet muscles on the buccal tube, and it has been attributed, together with the genus Microhypsibius, to the family Microhypsibiidae on ...

Chasing (macro)elements in microinvertebrates: A new methodological approach for quantitative and qualitative analyses of phosphorus by PIXE (Particle‐Induced X‐Ray Emission) applied to glacier tardigrades

open access: yesMethods in Ecology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 6, Page 1160-1172, June 2025.
Abstract Microinvertebrates in harsh environments often occupy the highest trophic levels and directly influence the turnover of macroelements. However, the investigation of their body elemental composition is complicated due to their low dry weight or sample size hindering the application of established methodological approaches.

Community Analysis Reveals Biogeographical Patterns and Biodiversity Shortfalls in Antarctic Tardigrades

open access: yesJournal of Biogeography, Volume 52, Issue 3, Page 735-749, March 2025.
ABSTRACT Aim Tardigrades are important members of Antarctic metazoan communities with many endemic species. Major biogeographic patterns of Antarctic fauna have been identified, in particular regarding the zonation across the Gressitt line, dividing Continental and Peninsular Antarctica. Evidences suggest that Antarctic tardigrades follow this zonation

Fish Biodiversity in the Upstream of the Umban Sari River, Pekanbaru, Riau Province [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The upstream the Umban Sari River was inhabit by numerous fish species. Information on these fish, however, is almost none. To understand the biodiversity of fish in that river, a study has been conducted from September to October 2015.
