Apparent Paradoxes Are Paradoxes and the Problem of Change Is an Apparent Paradox

open access: yesPacific Philosophical Quarterly
ABSTRACTIn this paper, we argue that, under certain conditions, if something is, apparently, a paradox, then it is a paradox. We then apply this claim to a recent discussion on the so‐called “Problem of Change.” Throughout the history of Philosophy, many authors have viewed change as a paradoxical phenomenon.

Dynamic Proton Activity Regulation via Brønsted Bases Enables Durable and High‐Energy‐Density Zn||MnO2 Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Our study demonstrates Brønsted base‐mediated proton transfer for HOAc dissociation regulation in weakly acidic electrolytes, where imidazole achieves optimal dynamic proton equilibrium‐simultaneously stabilizing Zn anodes and enabling efficient Mn2+/MnO2 conversion.

Soft Neural Interfaces for Circuit‐Level Analysis of Magnetogenetic Deep Brain Stimulation in Parkinson's Disease Models

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Magnetogenetic deep brain stimulation (MG‐DBS) represents a wireless neuromodulation that has demonstrated long‐lasting behavioral benefits in Parkinson's disease models. However, the circuit‐level mechanisms underlying these therapeutic effects have remained uncharacterized due to limitations of conventional neural interfaces.

Aristotle’s Zeno. How the History of Philosophy is Intertwined with Contemporary Philosophy

open access: yesPeitho
Hermeneutical scholars doubt whether many past authors really existed. They are only a sort of construction built with the passing of time. Indeed, Zeno of Elea, for instance, was real, and historians attempted to establish what he wrote and intended to

Cantor Paradoxes, Possible Worlds and Set Theory

open access: yesMathematics, 2019
In this paper, we illustrate the paradox concerning maximally consistent sets of propositions, which is contrary to set theory. It has been shown that Cantor paradoxes do not offer particular advantages for any modal theories.

Some Open Questions about Degrees of Paradoxes [PDF]

open access: yes
We can classify the (truth-theoretic) paradoxes according to their degrees of paradoxicality. Roughly speaking, two paradoxes have the same degrees of paradoxicality, if they lead to a contradiction under the same conditions, and one paradox has a (non ...

Hierarchically Engineered Multi‐Enzyme Nanoreactors for in vitro Drug Biosynthesis and Pathway Transplantation Into Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A hierarchically structured metal–organic framework (eMIL) is shown to host the complete six‐enzyme biosynthesis pathway for the anti‐cancer pigment violacein, reshaping reaction dynamics and multiplying in vitro yields. eMIL nanoreactors deliver this reconstituted bacterial multi‐protein system into mammalian cells, where cell‐derived substrates and ...

Droplet Electricity Generators With Maximized Energy Collection Zone Enabled by Aloe‐Inspired Midrib and Cuticle

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
An Aloe‐pinspired droplet electricity generator (A‐DEG) overcomes the limited energy collection zone of conventional DEGs by guiding impact droplets through a channeling midrib and artificial cuticle. The channeling midrib induces uni‐directional droplet spreading, while the artificial cuticle on the midrib further reinforces this behavior through its ...

Transparency in Tender Waivers in Local Governments During Emergency Situations

open access: yesRevista Contabilidade & Finanças
Using the organizational paradox perspective, the study discusses how a context of national emergency modifies the propensity for transparency in tender waivers in municipalities.

The Tolman "Antitelephone" Paradox: Its Solution by Tachyon Mechanics [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
Some recent experiments led to the claim that something can travel faster than light in vacuum. However, such results do not seem to place relativistic causality in jeopardy. Actually, it is possible to solve also the known causal paradoxes, devised for "
