PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

Extraction of rhenium (VII) by tetraoctylammonium bromide mixed with low-melting thinners

open access: yesReviews in Analytical Chemistry, 2011
Regularities of extraction of rhenium (VII) melt tetraoctyl-ammonium bromide in a mixture of higher alcohols and paraffin were determined. Quantitative extraction of measurements obtained in the range of pH of the aqueous phase 1.5–2.0 was carried out ...

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

Investigating the Cases of Pupillary Paraffinoma Following Surgery on the Paranasal Sinus Surgeries: Case Series [PDF]

open access: yesمجله علوم پزشکی صدرا
Introduction: In medicine, paraffinoma is a rare and intriguing condition. This condition is characterized by an orbital lipogranulomatosis reaction caused by the penetration of mineral oils (especially paraffin) into the tissues surrounding the eye ...

Study of Saving Thermal Energy Using Local Mixed Phase Change Materials.

open access: yesZanco Journal of Pure and Applied Sciences, 2020
Latent heat storage systems were reported to possess a very slow thermal response, mainly those using organic materials. This is primarily due to the relatively low thermal conductivity organic PCM (phase change material).

Numerical Study for the Tube Rotation Effect on Melting Process in Shell and Tube Latent Heat Energy Storage LHES System

open access: yesJournal of Engineering, 2021
Although renewable energy systems have become an interesting global issue, it is not continuous either daily or seasonally. Latent heat energy storage (LHES) is one of the suitable solutions for this problem.

Crucial parameters for precise copy number variation detection in formalin‐fixed paraffin‐embedded solid cancer samples

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that copy number variations (CNVs) can be reliably detected in formalin‐fixed paraffin‐embedded (FFPE) solid cancer samples using ultra‐low‐pass whole‐genome sequencing, provided that key (pre)‐analytical parameters are optimized.
