SUMMARY. The removal of the horny layer of the guinea-pig ear by tape stripping causes rapid development of a parakeratotic scale during the first 12 hr. Some epidermal cells, which were labelled with 3H-Thymidine when stripping was performed, could be detected autoradiographically in the parakeratotic stratum corneum a few hours later.

Axillary granular parakeratosis

SUMMARYA 54‐year‐old woman had a 3year history of a recurrent bilateral axillary rash during the summer months. Both axillae showed hyperkeratolic, fissured and cobblestone plaques. Skin biopsy showed the histology previously defined as axillary granular parakeratosis.

The diagnostic value of parakeratosis

A study of dermatopathological specimens exhibiting parakeratosis has been made and the parakeratosis classified on morphological and topographical criteria. Twelve patterns of parakeratosis have been identified and their association with particular pathological conditions described.
