Axillary granular parakeratosis
International Journal of Dermatology, 2001A healthy 62-year-old African–American woman had noted an intermittent eruption in both axillae for 5 years. She had been using a well-known, brand name, roll-on deodorant–antiperspirant 1 month prior to the start of her eruption. She continued to use the same product intermittently for years despite this eruption, and noticed improvement after ...

The diagnostic value of parakeratosis is reviewed, with special emphasis on associated inflammatory tissue reaction patterns and the geometric pattern of the scale. Parakeratosis may also occur in disorders not primarily inflammatory in nature and those associations are addressed.

Axillary granular parakeratosis
Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, 1995We report two cases of axillary granular parakeratosis, which is a unique eruption involving the axilla that has distinctive histopathologic features. Both of our patients had slightly pruritic, hyperpigmented patches in the axilla. The biopsy specimens revealed severe compact parakeratosis with maintenance of the stratum granulosum and retention of ...

Axillary Granular Parakeratosis
Journal of Cutaneous Medicine and Surgery, 2003Background: Granular parakeratosis is a hyperkeratotic eruption of unknown etiology that occurs in the axilla and other intertriginous areas. The histologic features are unique for the retention of keratohyalin granules in the stratum corneum. Objective:

Intertriginous granular parakeratosis
Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, 1998An unusual form of parakeratosis localized to the axillae has been previously described in the literature as axillary granular parakeratosis. We report an additional 4 cases, including one that was isolated to the inguinal region. The same histopathologic changes of papillomatosis, acanthosis, and parakeratosis with retention of keratohyalin granules ...

Pediatric Dermatology, 2004
This is a report of a 60 year-old black female patient presenting with pruritic brownish crusted plaques on both axillae of one month evolution. Histopathology revealed findings characteristic of axillary granular parakeratosis. This entity was first described by Northcutt et al in 1991.

Histochemical Observations on Parakeratosis
Archives of Dermatology, 1958Parakeratosis is so characteristic and occurs in so many skin diseases that an adequate knowledge of its histochemistry appears indispensable. Nevertheless, many histochemical characteristics of parakeratosis still are largely unknown. The following study was undertaken to investigate some of these characteristics.

Follicular Granular Parakeratosis
The American Journal of Dermatopathology, 2003An 83-year-old patient presented herself with a ten-year history of keratotic papules on her trunk. A biopsy of this process revealed granular parakeratosis confined to the infundibulum of a follicle. Exclusive follicular involvement in granular parakeratosis has not been previously described.

Axillary granular parakeratosis
Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, 1991The term axillary granular parakeratosis is proposed for a unique axillary eruption with distinct histopathologic features. Four middle-aged to elderly patients (three women, one man) had unilateral or bilateral, usually pruritic, hyperpigmented to bright red patches in the axillae.
