The Strategic Effects of Parallel Trade~Market stealing and wage cutting~ [PDF]

open access: yes
Why do producers often accept parallel trade in some markets such as automobiles, clothing, toys and consumer electronics? This paper identifies two new factors, viz., market stealing and union-wage cutting, which may make parallel trading beneficial to ...

Testing parallel random number generators

open access: yes, 2003
Monte Carlo computations are considered easy to parallelize. However, the results can be adversely affected by defects in the parallel pseudorandom number generator used.

Hippo pathway at the crossroads of stemness and therapeutic resistance in breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dysregulation of the Hippo pathway drives nuclear accumulation of YAP/TAZ, activating stemness‐related transcriptional programs that sustain breast cancer stemness and fuel therapeutic resistance across subtypes, underscoring Hippo signaling as a targetable vulnerability. Figure created and edited with BioRender.com.

Vertical Restraints and Parallel Imports with Differentiated Products [PDF]

open access: yes
A monopoly selling in two countries can use exclusive or competitive retailers to distribute its product. A low wholesale price in one country might induce a retailer to resell the good for profit in the other country, generating thereby parallel imports

Parallel Treebanks in Phrase-Based Statistical Machine Translation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Given much recent discussion and the shift in focus of the field, it is becoming apparent that the incorporation of syntax is the way forward for the current state-of-the-art in machine translation (MT).

Deciphering transcriptional plasticity in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma reveals alterations in sensory neuron innervation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pancreatic sensory neurons innervating healthy and PDAC tissue were retrogradely labeled and profiled by single‐cell RNA sequencing. Tumor‐associated innervation showed a dominant neurofilament‐positive subtype, altered mitochondrial gene signatures, and reduced non‐peptidergic neurons.

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.

Transcriptional profiling of circulating extracellular vesicles from prebiopsy prostate cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
RNA profiling of circulating extracellular vesicles (EVs) from blood samples of men undergoing prostate biopsy identifies transcripts associated with clinically significant prostate cancer. Integrative analysis with public tumor datasets links EV‐derived gene signatures to tumor stage and progression‐free survival, highlighting CASP3, XRCC2, and RIT1 ...

On the power of parallel machines with high-arity instruction sets [PDF]

open access: yes
We consider various models of parallel computers based on communication networks of sequential processors. The degree of a parallel machine is the number of communication lines connected Lo each processor; the arity is the number of these lines which a ...

Managing complexity in the Parallel Sparse Grid Combination Technique

open access: yes, 2014
Parallel implementation of the sparse grid combination technique in high dimensions presents many complexity challenges. We enumerate these challenges, classifying them respectively as computational, algorithmic, and software complexity.
