Parallel Locality and Parallelization Quality [PDF]
This paper presents a new distributed computation model adapted to manycore processors. In this model, the run is spread on the available cores by fork machine instructions produced by the compiler , for example at function calls and loops iterations. This approach is to be opposed to the actual model of computation based on cache and predictor.

To parallelize or not to parallelize, bugs issue
Program correctness is one of the most difficult challenges in parallel programming. Message Passing Interface MPI is widely used in writing parallel applications. Since MPI is not a compiled language, the programmer will be enfaced with several programming bugs. This paper presents the most common programming bugs arise in MPI programs to help the ...

Parallel visibility computations for parallel radiosity [PDF]
The radiosity method models the interaction of light between diffuse reflecting surfaces, thereby accurately predicting global illumination effects. Due to the high computational effort to calculate the transfer of light between surfaces and the memory requirements for the scene description, a distributed, parallelized verison of the algorithm is ...

The estimation of the Tree of Life, a rooted binary tree representing how all extant species evolved from a common ancestor, is one of the grand challenges of modern biology. Research groups around the world are attempting to estimate evolutionary trees on particular sets of species (typically clades, or rooted subtrees), in the hope that a final ...

Morphing Wing Based on Trigonal Bipyramidal Tensegrity Structure and Parallel Mechanism
The development of morphing wings is in the pursuit of lighter weight, higher stiffness and strength, and better flexible morphing ability. A structure that can be used as both the bearing structure and the morphing mechanism is the optimal choice for ...

Parallel implementation of stochastic simulation for large-scale cellular processes [PDF]
Experimental and theoretical studies have shown the importance of stochastic processes in genetic regulatory networks and cellular processes. Cellular networks and genetic circuits often involve small numbers of key proteins such as transcriptional ...

An Area-Efficient Hybrid Polar Decoder With Pipelined Architecture
As the first kind of capacity-achieving forward error correction (FEC) codes, polar codes have attracted much research interest recently. Compared with traditional FEC codes, polar codes show better error correction performance when successive ...
