Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Scalable Small Signal and Noise Modeling of InP HEMT for THz Application

open access: yesIEEE Journal of the Electron Devices Society, 2023
Scalable small signal and noise modeling for 90nm InP high electron mobility transistor (HEMT) is proposed in this paper. Analytical expressions for the noise parameters of the intrinsic part are derived from an accurate small signal and noise equivalent

Using BBN in cosmological parameter extraction from CMB: a forecast for Planck

open access: yes, 2008
Data from future high-precision Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) measurements will be sensitive to the primordial Helium abundance $Y_p$. At the same time, this parameter can be predicted from Big Bang Nucleosynthesis (BBN) as a function of the baryon ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

On the Modeling of Microstrip Lines Loaded With Dumbbell Defect-Ground-Structure (DB-DGS) and Folded DB-DGS Resonators

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2021
This paper presents a lumped-element equivalent circuit model of microstrip lines loaded with dumbbell defect-ground-structure (DB-DGS) resonators, etched in the ground plane.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Comparison of MIMO channels from multipath parameter extraction and direct channel measurements [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
This work presents a MIMO throughput performance analysis of dynamic wideband double-directional channel measurements that were recently obtained by the University of Bristol. Identical 16-element uniform circular arrays (UCAs) were employed at both ends
