Evolutionary optimisation for optimising process parameters in vacuum carburising

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2020
Vacuum carburizing is carried out on Aero engine gears to obtain high case depths of the gear teeth to resist wear and tear. The depth of carburizing has to be uniform and consistent to achieve long life of the aero engine gears. The case depth is sensitive to a lot of parameters involved in the process of case carburizing.

Formal Descriptions of Real Parameter Optimisation

2006 IEEE International Conference on Evolutionary Computation, 2006
The design of effective operators is a matter of some interest in the evolutionary computing community, and Radcliffe’s forma analysis is one notable approach to formally incorporate domain knowledge in operator design by manipulating the formal descriptions of problem domain.

Combining topology and lamination parameter optimisation

Structural and Multidisciplinary Optimization, 2014
Two dimensional composite structures are designed for maximum stiffness under multiple load cases. Both the topology and the fibre angle distribution are optimised simultaneous. To solve the topology optimisation, a density approach is used. The stiffness is parametrised in terms of lamination parameters, not directly in terms of the fibre angles.

An optimisation of formant synthesis parameter coding

Speech Communication, 1984
Abstract An optimum coding of the parameters of a formant speech synthesizer is proposed. The optimisation of these control parameters coding is based on statistical and subjective criteria. The synthesizer used is a parallel synthesizer capable of synthesizing high quality speech whether voiced or unvoiced.

Optimised parameters for A-DNA and B-DNA

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1972
Abstract Atomic coordinates and other stereochemical parameters are presented for the A and B conformations of DNA. The molecular structures presented have the most probable values of bond-lengths, bond-angles and furanose ring conformations as defined by accurate X-ray crystallographic analyses of relevant monomers.

Optimisation of PLD Parameters

2017
Progress in the fabrication of ZnO-based optoelectronic devices lies in producing reproducible, reliable and stable p-type ZnO films, because of the intrinsic n-type nature of the deposited ZnO films. Hence, for successful conversion of its carriers from n-type to p-type, it is desirable that the deposited ZnO film has as low an electron concentration ...

Optimised parameters for RNA double-helices

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1972
Abstract Atomic coordinates, obtained by analysis of the X-ray fiber diffraction data from synthetic RNA double-helices, are presented for A-RNA and A′-RNA. (A′-RNA is produced by increasing the salt content in fibers of A-RNA which is the conformation already observed for viral RNA double-helices.) The most probable values of bond-lengths and bond ...

Optimisation of Energy Parameters

1977
In this chapter we shall be concerned once again with the very basis of the CFF concept. It will be recalled that this concept way be formulated as: choice of analytical forms of potential energy functions for a faaily of molecules; selection of initial values of the parameters of the energy functions; calculation of any desired observable property of ...

On an Algorithm for Combined System Optimisation and Parameter Estimation

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1979
The paper is concerned with the determination of optimum steady-state operation of industrial plant where the optimisation is performed using a mathematical model with parameters whose values are estimated by comparing model and real plant measurements.

Parameter-optimisation based decouplers

1996 IEEE International Conference on Systems, Man and Cybernetics. Information Intelligence and Systems (Cat. No.96CH35929), 2002
This paper describes a procedure for decoupler design using a nonlinear optimization algorithm. The theory of the interaction measure and the minimal order of a decoupler which serves as a basis to design processes are reviewed and pertinent results are highlighted.
