A Speech Recognizer With Selectable Model Parameters
2005 IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems, 2005This paper presents the design and simulation results of a hidden Markov model (HMM) based isolated word recognizer IC. The new design can handle any combination of states and mixtures (up to 16 states and 8 mixtures). The speech IC has been verified with 353 test speech data. The recognition accuracy is 93.8% (48-bit) with no truncation and 88.9% with

Parameters selection in predictive online simulation
2016 IEEE 14th International Conference on Industrial Informatics (INDIN), 2016Industrial applications with reliable predictive features are becoming increasingly important. A tracking simulator is an example of an online simulation system with great capabilities that fills the gap left by other predictive applications. In a tracking simulator, a simulation model is run in parallel with a physical process controlled by the ...

Parameter selection in particle swarm optimization
1998This paper first analyzes the impact that inertia weight and maximum velocity have on the performance of the particle swarm optimizer, and then provides guidelines for selecting these two parameters. Analysis of experiments demonstrates the validity of these guidelines.

Alternatives to Parameter Selection for Kernel Methods
2006In this paper we propose alternative methods to parameter selection techniques in order to build a kernel matrix for classification purposes using Support Vector Machines (SVMs). We describe several methods to build a unique kernel matrix from a collection of kernels built using a wide range of values for the unkown parameters.

Parameter-free, adaptive clonal selection
Proceedings of the 2004 Congress on Evolutionary Computation (IEEE Cat. No.04TH8753), 2004The 'clonal selection' approach to optimization - an abstraction of immune system adaptation, popularized mainly by de Castro and Von Zuben - may have reached something of an impasse. The method requires several parameters that must be tuned, and it normally uses a binary representation that can limit the accuracy of the results.
