Robust Lorenz Curves: A Semi-Parametric Approach [PDF]
Lorenz curves and second-order dominance criteria are known to be sensitive to data contamination in the right tail of the distribution. We propose two ways of dealing with the problem: (1) Estimate Lorenz curves using parametric models for income ...

On parametrization of interpolating curves
The interactive shape control of an interpolation curve which is given by a sequence of definition points on the curve and a sequence of parameter values (nodes) associated with these definition points is studied. The interpolation curve is modelled as the combination of the control points and blending functions and for the given nodes passes through ...

Interpreting the effects of DNA polymerase variants at the structural level
Using MAVISp and molecular dynamics simulations, we analyzed over 60 000 missense variants in POLE and POLD1 from ClinVar, COSMIC, cBioPortal, and saturation mutagenesis. Identified mechanistic indicators, including stability, binding, and long‐range, enable structural interpretation, providing ACMG‐like evidence for possible reclassification of VUS ...

Radiotherapy (RT) response depends on the DNA repair capacity of tumor and host cells. We show that circulating tumor cell (CTC) counts and apoptosis rates before and after RT predict treatment response and outcome, which can be accessed via easily accessible liquid biopsy approaches. Created in BioRender. Wikman, H.

Many patients with urothelial cancer do not benefit from treatment with pembrolizumab, while at risk of severe side effects. Changes in the levels of circulating tumor DNA early during treatment, measured by a simple and affordable assay that can be easily implemented in the clinic, can be used as a prognostic tool to identify these patients.

REVISITING THE ORDERED FAMILY OF LORENZ CURVES [PDF]
Lorenz curve; Gini index Abstract: Sarabia et al. (1999) present a basic model to create ordered families of Lorenz curves, along with basic theorems that describe the conditions for the models to satisfy the definition of the Lorenz curve.

The novel styrylquinazolinone‐based molecule W1B effectively suppresses glioblastoma by inhibiting IGF1R and EGFR. In high‐glucose microenvironments driving tumor resistance, W1B acts synergistically with the EGFR inhibitor dacomitinib. This combination safely blocks compensatory survival signaling in zebrafish xenograft models. Showcasing promising in

Tumor B‐cell infiltration in platinum‐treated advanced muscle‐invasive urothelial carcinoma
Bladder tumors with higher pretreatment memory B‐cell infiltration were linked to longer survival after cisplatin chemotherapy, but not carboplatin. These tumors also showed more organized immune structures (tertiary lymphoid structures) and a shared pro‐inflammatory B‐cell‐rich community, suggesting that memory B cells may help identify patients most ...

Carbon Abatement Leaders and Laggards Non Parametric Analyses of Policy Oriented Kuznets Curves [PDF]
We study the eventual structural differences of climate change leading ‘actors’ such as Northern EU countries, and ‘lagging actors’ - southern EU countries and the ‘Umbrella group’ - with regard to long run (1960-2001) carbon-income relationships ...

Semi-parametric estimation of growth curves
Sigmoidal curves, very common in epidemiology and biology, have traditionally been fitted using parametric models or fully non-parametric approaches like splines.
