Spatial Entanglement in Optical Parametric Down-Conversion

2007
This chapter and Chapter 5 constitute a direct continuation of Chapter 1, with a description of the developments in the continuous variable approach to quantum imaging, achieved in the framework of QUANTIM. Whereas Chapter 2 treats the traveling-wave configuration for PDC, the discussion of Chapter 5 focuses on the cavity configuration of optical ...

Hyperentanglement and femtosecond parametric down-conversion

Technical Digest. Summaries of papers presented at the Quantum Electronics and Laser Science Conference. Postconference Technical Digest (IEEE Cat. No.01CH37172), 2002
Summary form only given. Entanglement has proven to be an important resource in generating completely new optical states that can be used in quantum information processing, secure communication, and precise optical measurement. The transition from this theoretical notion to experimental reality is often a challenging step, however.

Photon localisation in parametric down-conversion

Quantum Optics: Journal of the European Optical Society Part B, 1989
A full multimode theory for parametric down-conversion is used to calculate the two-photon detection amplitude. From this amplitude a heuristic argument is given for the configuration space extent of the single photons that are involved. These single phonons have a configuration space localisation consistent with an asymptotic fall off with distance r ...

Quantum correlations in parametric down-conversion

International Conference on Quantum Information, 2007
We focus on conditional and unconditioned joint distributions of the signal-mode photon numbers in two down-converters on the possible condition that the idler-mode photon number is known. Respective negative and positive correlations are explained.

Revisiting non-degenerate parametric down-conversion

Pramana, 2008
The quantum dynamics of a two-mode non-resonant parametric down-conversion process is studied by recasting the time evolution equations for the basic operators in an equivalent spin equation form with simpler exact solutions for a pump field with harmonic time dependence.

Theory of parametric frequency down conversion of light

Physical Review A, 1985
A theoretical study is made of the process in which incident pump photons that interact with a nonlinear medium (such as a crystal lacking inversion symmetry) are spontaneously split into lower-frequency signal and idler photons. The down-converted fields are quantized and described by a continuum of modes, a subset of which interacts with each ...

Interferometry of spontaneous parametric down conversion

Technical Digest. Summaries of papers presented at the Quantum Electronics and Laser Science Conference. Postconference Technical Digest (IEEE Cat. No.01CH37172), 2002
Summary form only given. The interference of spontaneous radiation emitted from two macroscopic regions (a nonlinear analogy of the Mach-Zehnder interferometer) is considered. The interferometer is based on two nonlinear crystals, excited in series by a common laser pump. The crystals are separated by a layer with an unknown dispersion law.

Quantum entanglement swapping with spontaneous parametric down conversion

SPIE Proceedings, 2003
Two remote parties that have never interacted each other can be entangled through entanglement swapping operation done by a third party. Currently existing entanglement swapping experiments are done probabilistically by postselection, i.e., once a successful swapping is verified, the resultant entanglement is destructed.
