Development of Optimal Parameter Estimation Methodologies Applied to a 3DOF Autonomous Surface Vessel

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2021
Autonomous Surface Vessels (ASVs) are reliable and robust vehicles. They perform autonomous missions in lakes, rivers and even open waters. Those are dangerous environments that requires precise and secure navigation.

Parametric Estimation From Empirical Data Using Particle Swarm Optimization Method for Different Magnetorheological Damper Models

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2021
The nonlinearity behaviour of magnetorheological fluid (MRF) can be described using a number of established models such as Bingham and Modified Bouc-Wen models.

The periodogram envelope in parametric and non-parametric spectral estimation [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 2003
The role of the periodogram envelope as a nonparametric approach for spectral estimation and its potential in parametric spectral estimation using variational approaches are examined. The spectral envelope, or its prior estimate the periodogram envelope, represents a very good candidate for starting any approach to spectral estimation due to its smooth

Empirical Non-Parametric Estimation of the Fisher Information [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Signal Processing Letters, 2014
The Fisher information matrix (FIM) is a foundational concept in statistical signal processing. The FIM depends on the probability distribution, assumed to belong to a smooth parametric family.

Parametric Channel Estimation for Massive MIMO [PDF]

open access: yes2018 IEEE Statistical Signal Processing Workshop (SSP), 2018
Channel state information is crucial to achieving the capacity of multi-antenna (MIMO) wireless communication systems. It requires estimating the channel matrix. This estimation task is studied, considering a sparse channel model particularly suited to millimeter wave propagation, as well as a general measurement model taking into account hybrid ...

Therapeutic Apheresis in Nigeria: A Multi‐Center Summary of Abstracts From the Inaugural Nigerian Society for Apheresis Scientific Meeting

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Therapeutic apheresis (TA) is an established treatment modality for hematologic, neurologic, and immunologic disorders, yet access remains severely limited in sub‐Saharan Africa. Donor apheresis, including platelet apheresis collection from healthy donors, represents an important complementary modality supporting blood product ...

Sparse semi-parametric chirp estimation [PDF]

open access: yes2014 48th Asilomar Conference on Signals, Systems and Computers, 2014
In this work, we present a method for estimating the parameters detailing an unknown number of linear chirp signals, using an iterative sparse reconstruction framework. The proposed method is initiated by a re-weighted Lasso approach, and then use an iterative relaxation-based refining step to allow for high resolution estimates.

Prognosis of Long‐Term Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy and the Impact of Combined Continuous Intravenous Sodium Infusion Therapy

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Patients requiring long‐term continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) generally have poor prognoses. This study evaluated whether adding continuous intravenous sodium infusion (cIVNa) is associated with improved hemodynamics and outcomes in patients undergoing long‐term CRRT for ≥ 7 days.

On Modelling Sea State Bias of Jason-2 Altimeter Data Based on Significant Wave Heights and Wind Speeds

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2023
Altimeter data processing is very important to improve the quality of sea surface height (SSH) measurements. Sea state bias (SSB) correction is a relatively uncertain error correction due to the lack of a clear theoretical model. At present, the commonly
