Biophysical characterisation shows that NanX, a membrane transport protein from the major facilitator superfamily (MFS), forms both monomers and dimers after purification. AlphaFold modelling and substrate docking provide information on residues likely involved in substrate recognition for NanX and another MFS member, NanT.

Vibration suppression and energy transfer by parametric excitation in drive systems
Drive systems may experience torsional vibrations due to various kinds of excitation mechanisms. In many engineering systems, however, such vibrations may have a negative impact on the performance and must be avoided or reduced to an acceptable level ...

The presence of biotin‐binding avidin proteins in fish and their biological significance are poorly characterized. We cataloged fish avidins and demonstrate that they are widely present and evolutionarily conserved. We created avd knockout zebrafish and show that zebavidin is dispensable for development and that resistance of avd knockout embryos in ...

Damping by Parametric Stiffness Excitation: Resonance and Anti-Resonance
The goal of this work is to develop deeper insight into the method of damping vibrations by means of parametric excitation in mechanical systems - employing the concept of the so-called parametric anti-resonance.

GelMA‐based 3D spheroids recapitulate transcriptomic and functional hallmarks of myeloid sarcoma
GelMA 5% hydrogels support the formation of myeloid leukemia spheroids that recapitulate MS‐specific features, including G1 arrest, apoptosis, and ECM‐driven transcriptomic reprogramming. The 3D model mimicked soft‐tissue‐like stiffness and oxygen conditions, and transcriptomic convergence with primary MS samples confirmed its utility as a preclinical ...

Using fluorescence fluctuation spectroscopy to quantify molecular dynamics within cells
Microscopy techniques like fluorescence correlation spectroscopy (FCS) and number and brightness analysis (N&B) allow to quantify concentrations, diffusion rates, and oligomerization of fluorescently labeled molecules in the living cell. In this protocol the principles of how to set up these types of experiments are described including calibration ...

Optimal Control of a Harmonic Oscillator with Parametric Excitation
This paper addresses the time-optimal control problem for a harmonic oscillator characterized by a time-dependent frequency. The primary objective is to determine the minimal time required to transition the system from an initial state, defined by a ...

Parametric Excitation of a Ferrimagnetic Sphere Resonator
ABSTRACT The response of a ferrimagnetic sphere resonator to an externally applied parametric excitation is experimentally studied. Measurement results are compared with predictions derived from a theoretical model, which is based on the hypothesis that disentanglement spontaneously occurs in quantum systems.

An application of solutions of linear Mathieu equation by a new method gives approximate solutions in a parametrically excited self-excitation system with dry friction. Steady solutions and the stability in the regions of parametric resonance of first and second orders are determined.

Chronobiology of Cancer: How Aging Fuels Oncogenesis at the Molecular Level
This graphical abstract illustrates the key biological pathways linking aging with cancer development and progression. In the upper left, cumulative exposure to ultraviolet radiation, toxins, and reactive oxygen species (ROS) causes DNA damage and genomic instability, whereas age‐related decline in repair mechanisms, such as ATM/ATR, BER, and NER ...
