Interval censoring Analysis of Factors affecting the time of development of pulmonary restrictive disorder in yazd tile workers

open access: yesطب کار, 2018
Introduction: Respiratory diseases are one of the most common occupational diseases in Iran. This study aimed to investigate the factors affecting the time of development of pulmonary restrictive patterns in the workerschr('39') spirometry in Yazd tile ...

Modeling Tropical Cyclone Boundary Layer Wind Fields over Ocean and Land: A Comparative Assessment

open access: yesAtmosphere
Accurate simulation of boundary layer wind field structures is essential for evaluating tropical cyclone (TC) wind hazards and supporting engineering design in coastal regions.

Parametric model-based clustering [PDF]

open access: yesSPIE Proceedings, 2005
Parametric, model-based algorithms learn generative models from the data, with each model corresponding to one particular cluster. Accordingly, the model-based partitional algorithm will select the most suitable model for any data object (Clustering step}, and will recompute parametric models using data specifically from the corresponding clusters ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Interval Estimation of Value-at-Risk Based on Nonparametric Models

open access: yesEconometrics, 2018
Value-at-Risk (VaR) has become the most important benchmark for measuring risk in portfolios of different types of financial instruments. However, as reported by many authors, estimating VaR is subject to a high level of uncertainty.

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Beta-Stacy survival regression models [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
This paper introduces a class of survival models for discrete time-to-event data with random right censoring. Flexible distributions for the survival times are constructed by modelling the random survival functions as discrete-time beta-Stacy processes (

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Semiparametric Multinomial Logit Models for Analysing Consumer Choice Behaviour [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The multinomial logit model (MNL) is one of the most frequently used statistical models in marketing applications. It allows to relate an unordered categorical response variable, for example representing the choice of a brand, to a vector of covariates ...
