Identification of the most stable genotypes in multi-environment trials by using nonparametric methods

open access: yesActa Agriculturae Slovenica, 2015
Genotype performances in multi-environment trials are usually analyzed by different univariate and multivariate parametric models for assessing yield stability and genotype × environment (GE) interaction investigation.

Building and using semiparametric tolerance regions for parametric multinomial models

open access: yes, 2009
We introduce a semiparametric ``tubular neighborhood'' of a parametric model in the multinomial setting. It consists of all multinomial distributions lying in a distance-based neighborhood of the parametric model of interest. Fitting such a tubular model

The neural crest‐associated gene ERRFI1 is involved in melanoma progression and resistance toward targeted therapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
ERRFI1, a neural crest (NC)‐associated gene, was upregulated in melanoma and negatively correlated with the expression of melanocytic differentiation markers and the susceptibility of melanoma cells toward BRAF inhibitors (BRAFi). Knocking down ERRFI1 significantly increased the sensitivity of melanoma cells to BRAFi.

Energy level dynamics in systems with weakly multifractal eigenstates: equivalence to 1D correlated fermions

open access: yes, 2000
It is shown that the parametric spectral statistics in the critical random matrix ensemble with multifractal eigenvector statistics are identical to the statistics of correlated 1D fermions at finite temperatures.

Screening for lung cancer: A systematic review of overdiagnosis and its implications

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Low‐dose computed tomography (CT) screening for lung cancer may increase overdiagnosis compared to no screening, though the risk is likely low versus chest X‐ray. Our review of 8 trials (84 660 participants) shows added costs. Further research with strict adherence to modern nodule management strategies may help determine the extent to which ...

Hepatic Steatosis Assessment Using Quantitative Ultrasound Parametric Imaging Based on Backscatter Envelope Statistics

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2019
Hepatic steatosis is a key manifestation of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). Early detection of hepatic steatosis is of critical importance. Currently, liver biopsy is the clinical golden standard for hepatic steatosis assessment.

Comparison of Panel Cointegration Tests [PDF]

open access: yes
The main aim of this paper is to compare the size and size-adjusted power properties of four residual-based and one maximum-likelihood-based panel cointegration tests with the help of Monte Carlo simulations.

Empirical likelihood-based model selection criteria for moment condition models [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
In this note we propose model selection criteria (MSC) for unconditional moment models using empirical likelihood (EL) statistics in the construction of the MSC The use of EL-statistics in lieu of the more common J-statistics leads to a much more ...

Survivin and Aurora Kinase A control cell fate decisions during mitosis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aurora A interacts with survivin during mitosis and regulates its centromeric role. Loss of Aurora A activity mislocalises survivin, the CPC and BubR1, leading to disruption of the spindle checkpoint and triggering premature mitotic exit, which we refer to as ‘mitotic slippage’.
