Rumen fluke infections (Paramphistomidae) in diarrhoeal cattle in western France and association with production parameters

Veterinary Parasitology: Regional Studies and Reports, 2022
This study was conducted to assess the impact of rumen flukes (RFs) (Paramphistomatidae) on various production parameters of cattle in Normandy. Faecal and blood samples were taken between 1 January 2010 and 31 December 2019 as part of the routine diagnostic activity for diarrhoea in weaned cattle, including a quantitative parasitological analysis ...

Nilocotyle duplicisphinctris sp. n. (Trematoda: Paramphistomidae) from Hippopotamus amphibius

Journal of Helminthology, 1980
ABSTRACTNilocotyle duplicisphinctris sp. n. was recovered from the stomach of Hippopotamus amphibius in Ethiopia. The average body size (L × W) is 3.6 × 1.2 mm; pharynx 0.5 × 0.3, Dicranocoelium type; other diameter of the acetabulum 0.85, Nilocotyle type; anterior testis 0.34 × 0.49; posterior testis 0.32 × 0.27; ovary 0.27 × 0.19; genital opening 0 ...

Effects of Source of Metacercariae on Experimental Infection of Zygocotyle lunata (Digenea: Paramphistomidae) in CD-1 Mice

Journal of Parasitology, 1993
Outbred (CD-1 strain) mice were infected experimentally with metacercariae of Zygocotyle lunata obtained from naturally infected Helisoma trivolvis. Growth, survival, and fecundity of the parasite and gross pathology in the host were evaluated. Metacercariae from 5 snail sources produced 3 patterns of growth and survival: significantly smaller worms ...

In vitro effect of some anthelmintics on lactate dehydrogenase activity of Cotylophoron cotylophorum (Digenea: Paramphistomidae)

Veterinary Parasitology, 2000
Effects of praziquantel (PZQ), levamisole (LEV), mebendazole (MBZ), fenbendazole (FBZ) and albendazole (ABZ) on the lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) activity of Cotylophoron cotylophorum were studied in vitro. Maximum levels of inhibition of LDH catalysing both oxidation and reduction reactions were observed in PZQ- and LEV-treated worms.

Ultrastructure of spermiogenesis and the spermatozoon of Paramphistomum microbothrium [Fischoeder 1901] (Digenea: Paramphistomidae), a parasite of Bos taurus in Senegal

Parasitology Research, 2007
The ultrastructural study of spermiogenesis and the spermatozoon of Paramphistomum microbothrium gave evidence of some characteristics of this digenean. The intercentriolar body located between two striated roots and two centrioles exhibits a symmetric plane. The two external bands of this intercentriolar body are made up of a line of granules.

The complete mitochondrial genome of Orthocoelium streptocoelium (Digenea: Paramphistomidae) for comparison with other digeneans

Journal of Helminthology, 2016
AbstractOrthocoelium streptocoelium is a common paramphistome species parasitizing the rumen and/or reticulum of small ruminants, leading to significant losses. This study first determined the complete mitochondrial (mt) genome of O. streptocoelium. The complete mt genome of O.

[Life cycle of Paramphistomum togolense n. sp. (Trematoda, Paramphistomidae)].

Annales de parasitologie humaine et comparee, 1979
Mature worms were obtained from a sheep experimentally infested with metacercariae issued from cercariae emitted by naturally infested snails: Bulinus (Bulinus) forskalli collected near Lomé (Togo). Miracidia were used for infection of these laboratory-reared snails which gave numerous cercariae. Larval stages are studied.
