The susceptibility of lymnaeid snails to Paramphistomum cervi infections in Mexico
Veterinary Parasitology, 1990The occurrence of Paramphistomum cervi has been reported in Mexico, but its intermediate hosts have not been identified. Five species of snails of the genus Lymnaea, L. bulimoides, L. columella, L. cubensis, L. humilis and L. palustris, were collected in Mexico. Only three of the exposed species, L. palustris, L. cubensis and L.

Paramphistomum cervi: Surface topography of the tegument of adult fluke
Experimental Parasitology, 2010Adult Paramphistomum cervi or rumen fluke are pear-shaped, slightly concave ventrally and convex dorsally. The worm measures about 5-13 mm in length and 2-5 mm in width across the mid-section. As observed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), the tegumental surface in all part of the body, appears highly corrugated with transverse folds alternating ...

Phosphatase systems in Paramphistomum explanatum Fischoeder, 1901
Zeitschrift fr Parasitenkunde, 1975Extracts of adult Paramphistomum explanatum have been shown to contain high concentration of acid phosphomonoesterase with maximum activity at pH 4.5. The enzyme has been characterized by an exhibition of an unexpected increase in the inhibitory action of a mercury at 1 mM concentration by EDTA.

Paramphistomosis of domestic and wild ruminants is caused by rumi-nal flukes from Paramphistomum genus (Trematoda: Digenea) that parasitize in fore stomachs as adults and in intestines as juveniles, and may cause major economic losses. Given their worldwide distribution and indications that in-fections are becoming more common it seems that the ...

[What is Paramphistomum cervi?].
Angewandte Parasitologie, 1984It is proved histologically that lacking of tegumented papillae in Paramphistomum cervi is based on the alteration of the tegument furnished with papillae in the normal state. The differences in the dorsal extension of the vitellaria, in the histological structure of the genital opening complex and in other features, used by Eduardo (1982) for the ...

Prvi dokaz metilja Paramphistomum leydeni i Paramphistomum cervi u jelena običnog u Hrvatskoj

Paramphistomum spp. in Dairy Cattle in Québec.
The Canadian veterinary journal = La revue veterinaire canadienne, 2010Few cases of infection with Paramphistomum spp. have been reported from cattle in Canada. During the course of a recent study of bovine fascioliasis both P. microbothrioides and P. liorchis were found in the rumen of dairy cattle slaughtered in a Quebec abattoir. Eggs in feces were distinguished on the basis of their size.

Lipid biosynthesis in Paramphistomum microbothrium (Trematoda).
Angewandte Parasitologie, 1990In vitro studies with Paramphistomum microbothrium indicated that the trematode is capable of synthesizing its complex lipids using exogenous substrates. U-14C glucose and 2-14C acetate were predominantly incorporated into phospholipids while 1-14C oleic acid and U-14C palmitic acid appeared more in the neutral lipids.

The taxonomic meaning of the morphological features of helminths is of paramount importance for their differential diagnostics. However, they should not be conceived as absolute, especially wih regard to trematodes such as P. daubneyi and P. microbothrium, similar not only on the basis of their morphological features but also with regard to their ...
