Tillage intensity and cover crop affect yield, energy efficiency, and sustainability of rainfed finger millet and pigeon pea cropping system in semiarid tropics

open access: yesAgrosystems, Geosciences &Environment, Volume 9, Issue 1, March 2026.
Abstract Little is known about the sustainability of an intercropping system comprising finger millet (Eleusine coracana) and pigeon pea (Cajanus cajan). We therefore sowed both cover crops and the above crops over 3 years in a seed mix of 8:2 by weight to assess their effects on soil properties, yield potential, and energy‐use efficiency.

Glucocorticoid with cyclophosphamide for paraquat-induced lung fibrosis. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Paraquat is an effective and widely used herbicide but is also a lethal poison. In many developing countries paraquat is widely available and inexpensive, making poisoning prevention difficult. However most of the people who become poisoned from paraquat

The “Pesticide Chip”: Chemical Legacies and Agrarian Futures in Costa Rica

open access: yesAntipode, Volume 58, Issue 2, 2026.
Abstract For decades, agro‐industrial capital has adopted cascading chemical and biotechnical interventions, or fixes, to secure accumulation through the cultivation of monocrops. We develop a framework that centres on how monocrop‐induced susceptibility to pests and pathogens—and the patchwork of fixes to address these—produces uneven chemical ...

MANF inhibits NLRP3 inflammasome activation by competitively binding to DDX3X in paraquat-stimulated alveolar macrophages

open access: yesEcotoxicology and Environmental Safety
NLRP3 inflammasome activation in macrophages is involved in paraquat-induced acute lung injury (ALI). MANF exerts an inhibitory effect against inflammation and cell death.

Efeito de desfolhantes na cultura algodoeira (Gossypium hirsutum L.) no Triângulo Mineiro Effects of defoliants on cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.) at Triângulo Mineiro

open access: yesPlanta Daninha, 1979

The effects of endosulfan on P450 1A gene expression, antioxidant enzymes activity and histopathological alterations in liver of Persian sturgeon (Acipenser persicus Borodin, 1987) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The effects of 14 days exposure to sublethal concentrations of endosulfan (10 and 40 μg L−1) were investigated in mRNA- P450 1A expression, antioxidant enzymes (SOD and CAT) activity and histopathological alterations of Persian sturgeon (Acipenser ...

Stress Conditioned Early‐Stage Screening in Biocatalysis

open access: yesChemCatChem, Volume 18, Issue 3, 12 February 2026.
Standard enzyme screening often overlooks industrial stress. We propose integrating conditions like pH shifts, low oxygen, interfacial deactivation, and high substrate/product levels into early high‐throughput assays. By measuring stress‐relevant metrics such as turnover under stress, cofactor efficiency, and solvent stability, the enzyme selection ...
