Self‐Powered Real‐Time Temperature Sensing Based on Flexible Ionic Elastomer on Triboelectric Nanogenerators

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces a self‐powered real‐time ionic TENG temperature sensing system for flexible thermal management with high and real‐time temperature monitoring. Ionic liquids and elastomer chains are investigated under temperature via electrochemical and physical analysis, resulting in enhancing thermal sensitivity and output performance on TENG ...

A transcriptional switch underlies commitment to sexual development in human malaria parasites

open access: yesNature, 2014
The life cycles of many parasites involve transitions between disparate host species, requiring these parasites to go through multiple developmental stages adapted to each of these specialized niches.

Engineering Porous Hollow Metal‐Poly(Heptazine Imide) Spheres: An Optimized Synthetic Strategy for Controlling Surface, Morphology, and Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Hollow poly(heptazine imide) spheres are prepared through a novel approach that integrates hard templating with ionothermal synthesis. This method enables precise control over surface area, pore volume, hydrophilicity, light absorption, band position, and metal composition. These tunable properties facilitate the customized design of semiconductors for

Genome analysis of Clostridium perfringens isolates from healthy and necrotic enteritis infected chickens and turkeys

open access: yesBMC Research Notes, 2017
Objective Clostridium perfringens causes gastrointestinal diseases in both humans and domestic animals. Type A strains expressing the NetB toxin are the main cause of necrotic enteritis (NE) in chickens, which has remarkable impact on animal welfare and ...

Enhancing Direct Solar Water Splitting via ALD of Multifunctional TiO2/Pt Nanoparticle Coatings With Engineered Interfaces to GaAs/GaInP Tandem Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Multifunctional atomic layer deposited coatings and interface treatments enhance direct solar water splitting on GaAs/GaInP tandem cells. Optimized TiO2/Pt nanoparticle bilayers ensure durability and catalytic efficiency with minimal optical losses, while H2 plasma pretreatments maximize photovoltage and interfacial charge extraction.

A CRISPR platform for targeted in vivo screens identifies Toxoplasma gondii virulence factors in mice

open access: yesNature Communications, 2019
Targeted CRISPR libraries expand the use of genetic screens across experimental conditions. Here, the authors develop a method for generating and analysing small scale custom CRISPR libraries and use it in the human and livestock pathogen Toxoplasma ...

Excited State Modulation in Carbene‐Metal‐Amides to Design Fast and Bright Blue Delayed Fluorescence

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Gold‐centered carbene‐metal amide (CMA) materials with carbonyl‐group substitution on the amide donor ligand. Molecular design ensures that the charge transfer (CT) state is lower in energy than the locally excited (3LE) states. The energy difference between CT and LE states controls the rate of the delayed fluorescence.

Prevalence of Mycoplasma Penetrans in Urethral and Rectal Specimens from Men Attending an STI Clinic

open access: yesActa Dermato-Venereologica
Mycoplasma penetrans has gained attention in relation to non-gonococcal urethritis (NGU), a syndrome where a significant proportion of patients have no identified aetiological agent.
