Analysis of black holes in our knowledge concerning animal health in the organic food production chain [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Although a large body of research on health aspects can be found via the web or in conference proceedings, only few papers reach the peer reviewed literature.

Voltage‐Gated Dedoping of n‐Doped Poly(benzodifurandione) as an Interfacial Protective Mechanism in Electrochromic Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Electrochromic polymer stability under overpotential is improved by inserting an ultrathin, transparent n‐doped poly(benzodifurandione) interlayer between indium tin oxide and a poly(3,4‐propylenedioxythiophene)‐based electrochromic polymer. The interlayer supports rapid switching at operating bias, then becomes resistive near +0.8 V to suppress excess

Photon Avalanching Nanoparticles: The Next Generation of Upconverting Nanomaterials?

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This Perspective outlines the mechanistic foundations that enable photon‐avalanche (PA) behavior in lanthanide nanomaterials and contrasts them with emerging application spaces and forward‐looking design strategies. By bridging threshold engineering, energy‐transfer dynamics, and materials engineering, we provide a coherent roadmap for advancing the ...

Insect-Parasitic Nematodes Resembling Plant-Parasitic Forms

open access: yes, 1988
Entomo-nematology is a large discipline. Poinar (1975) records 3150 cases of association between nematodes and insects, and there are 1140 entries in Shephard (1974). However, only a small fraction of these nematodes resemble plant-parasitic forms. They are found among Aphelenchida and Tylenchida, and they represent about 450 species distributed among ...

Alternative strategies to prevent and control endoparasite diseases in organic sheep and goat farming systems – a review of current scientific knowledge [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Infestation with gastro-intestinal nematodes in small ruminants can cause server economic losses and endanger animal welfare. The development of organic farming systems, the increased public awareness for drug residues in agricultural products and the ...

Parasitic plants--A CuRe for what ails thee [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Parasitic plants cause dramatic changes in ecosystems and represent a serious risk to agriculture by attacking crops of high economic importance. A highly conserved part of plant immune systems is the recognition of microbe-associated molecular patterns (

A Printed Zinc‐Ion Microbattery with Extended Shelf Life and Durability for Energy Autonomous Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We present a fully printed aqueous zinc‐ion microbattery (ZnIB) enabled by graphene‐decorated zinc anode and printed MnO@NC cathode using sustainable aqueous‐based ink formulations. The printed 3D electrodes ensure uniform zinc deposition, low overpotential, and long‐term stability.

Engineering Strategies for Stable and Long‐Life Alkaline Zinc‐Based Flow Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Alkaline zinc‐based flow batteries face persistent challenges from unstable zinc deposition, including dendrite growth, passivation, corrosion, and hydrogen evolution, which severely limit cycling stability. Current research addresses these issues through coordinated electrode structuring, electrolyte regulation, and membrane design to control zinc ...
