Cellular dynamics of host-parasitoid interactions: Insights from the encapsulation process in a partially resistant host [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Cotesia typhae is an eastern African endoparasitoid braconid wasp that targets the larval stage of the lepidopteran stem borer, Sesamia nonagrioides, a maize crop pest in Europe. The French host population is partially resistant to the Makindu strain of the wasp, allowing its development in only 40% of the cases.

Persistent pods of the tree Acacia caven: a natural refuge for diverse insects including Bruchid beetles and the parasitoids Trichogrammatidae, Pteromalidae and Eulophidae [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Insect Science, 8 (12/06/2006) 1-9 pages, 2007
The persistent pods of the tree, Acacia caven, that do not fall from the tree provide opportunities for the appearance of a diverse group of insects the following season. Such pods collected during the spring of 1999 in Chile were indehiscent with highly sclerified pod walls.

Bait Sprays Combined With Insecticides Targeted at Drosophila suzukii Have Negligible Impacts on Non‐Target Insects Compared to Full Foliar Spray Applications

open access: yesJournal of Applied Entomology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Current control of the invasive pest Drosophila suzukii relies primarily on insecticides, including the incorporation of phagostimulant baits. The impact of insecticidal bait sprays on beneficial insects in crops is largely unknown. In a laboratory and field trial, we exposed non‐target insects to insecticides with or without bait and compared

Report of Diglyphus poppoea (Hym.: Eulophidae) from Iran [PDF]

open access: yesنامه انجمن حشره‌شناسی ایران, 2008
A survey was conducted to identify parasitoids of leafminers in Shiraz region during spring 2005. The specimens of the Eulophid parasitoid wasp, Diglyphus poppoea Walker, were reared from wheat leaves infested by Agromyza ambigua Fallén (Dip ...

Assessing predation pressure of Vespa velutina on local fauna through DNA metabarcoding

open access: yesJournal of Zoology, EarlyView.
This study investigates the predation pressure exerted by the invasive yellow‐legged hornet (Vespa velutina) on native insect populations in Mallorca, using DNA metabarcoding to analyze their diet. Results reveal a diverse prey spectrum, including key insect groups such as Apidae (bees), Calliphoridae (blowflies), and Vespidae (wasps), with no ...

The temperature affects the impact levels of synthetic insecticides on a parasitoid wasp used in the biological control of pentatomid pests in soybean crops [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
The impact of climate change has led to growing global concern about the interaction of temperature and xenobiotics in agricultural toxicological studies. Thus, for the first time, we evaluated the lethal, sublethal and transgerational effects of six insecticides used in the management of stink bug complex in soybean crops on the different life stages ...

The abundance and phenology of four common agromyzid leafmining flies (Diptera: Agromyzidae) and their associated parasitoid wasps in southern Victoria

open access: yesAustral Entomology, Volume 64, Issue 3, August 2025.
Abstract Three polyphagous agromyzid leafminers, Liriomyza sativae Blanchard, Liriomyza huidobrensis (Blanchard) and Liriomyza trifolii (Burgess), have recently invaded mainland Australia, posing a threat to horticultural crops. Overseas, these species are often effectively controlled by local hymenopteran parasitoids.
