Palaeogeography, Palaeoclimatology, Palaeoecology, 1992
Abstract The age of glass shard levels, interlayered in Sarmatian deposits from the southwestern Russia are measured with the fission track method. The results obtained from different laboratories (Moscow, Pisa, Campinas) using their specific techniques are in good agreement so proving a good interlaboratory agreement.

Is there a Messinian unconformity in the Central Paratethys?
Stratigraphy, 2008Since the conception of the Mediterranean Messinian Salinity Crisis model in the 1970s, regional unconformities as candidates for indicators of a correlative base level drop have been sought in the neighbouring Paratethyan basins. Some authors have suggested that seismic sections and borehole profiles from the Late Miocene to Pliocene lacustrine to ...

Miocene Amathinidae (Gastropoda) of the Eastern Paratethys
Палеонтологический журнал, 2023Review was made for the Tarkhanian and Chokrakian representatives of the family Amathinidae. Two genera were defined—Leucotina and Carinorbis. The species L. ventosa (Bajarunas, 1910), L. belskayae (L. Iljina, 1993), L. costata sp. nov., L. excussa sp. nov., L. ovata sp. nov. and L. ovatoides sp. nov.

Miocene Hydrobiidae (Gastropoda) of the Eastern Paratethys
Paleontological Journal, 2023A review of the family Hydrobiidae from the Tarkhanian and Chokrakian deposits was made. New genus Islamiella was described, in which the species I. miocenica sp. nov. (upper Tarkhanian–lower Chokrakian) and I. maeotica sp. nov. (lower Maeotian) were included.

Prior to the onset of the Messinian Salinity Crisis, a connection was established between the Mediterranean Sea and the Paratethys region to the north. Rivers currently draining into the Caspian Sea thereby became important for the Mediterranean hydrological budget.

Revised taxonomy and stratigraphy of Middle Miocene calcareous nannofossils of the Paratethys
Micropaleontology, 2012The taxonomy of Paratethyan Middle Miocene calcareous nannofossils is reviewed and revised. Two new species, Syracosphaera croatica and Syracosphaera horvati, are proposed. Comparative study of coeval Neogene nannofossils from NHM and ODP (Ocean Drilling Project) reference collections give differences and similarities between the investigated areas ...

Paleogeography and palinspastic reconstruction of the Neogene of the Mediterranean and Paratethys
Geological Society, London, Special Publications, 1984Summary Eight palaeogeographic-palinspastic sketches are presented for intervals from Late Oligocene to Pliocene times for the circum-Mediterranean area and the Paratethys. They are based primarily on accurate correlation of marine and continental biogeographic events and take into account the generally accepted ideas of plate tectonics.

A revision of the Neogene Cancellariid Gastropods of the Paratethys Sea
Zootaxa, 2012We present the first synoptic revision of the cancellariid gastropods of the Miocene Paratethys Sea. This huge epicontiental sea experienced outstanding phases of invasions and endemic evolution, which resulted in a total diversity of at least 53 cancellariid species.

The Dolicholatiridae and Fasciolariidae (Gastropoda, Buccinoidea) of the Miocene Paratethys Sea
ZootaxaWe describe one species of Dolicholatiridae and 30 species of Fasciolariidae from the Miocene of the Central Paratethys Sea. The first records of the family Dolicholatiridae and of the Fasciolariidae genus Takashius are documented from the Neogene of Europe, and we describe a first Miocene radiation of the extant Mediterranean Fusininae Pseudofusus ...
