Abstract Background Neuroendocrine carcinoma of the prostate is a rare tumor subtype found in the spectrum of prostate cancer, and is more difficult to detect, due to the low prostate‐specific antigen values associated with it. A high degree of suspicion is hence needed to arrive at the diagnosis in such cases.

Estimating the Rate Constant from Biosensor Data via an Adaptive Variational Bayesian Approach [PDF]
The means to obtain the rate constants of a chemical reaction is a fundamental open problem in both science and the industry. Traditional techniques for finding rate constants require either chemical modifications of the reactants or indirect measurements.

Perspective: Speculative role of Tmp21 mediated protein secretory pathway during endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress induced chronic inflammation [PDF]
By deploying myelofibrosis as the disease context, I wish to propose that increased availability of Tmp21 (an NFAT gene target) induces aberrant protein secretion from the ER contributing to pathological consequences, which has not been elucidated before.

A Rare Case of Functioning Adrenocortical Oncocytoma Presenting as Cushing Syndrome
Functioning adrenocortical oncocytoma is very rare neoplasm. It is usually nonfunctional and benign and incidentally detected. Generally, these tumors originate in the kidneys, thyroid, parathyroid, and salivary or pituitary glands; they have also been ...

Explainable machine learning for neoplasms diagnosis via electrocardiograms: an externally validated study [PDF]
Background: Neoplasms remains a leading cause of mortality worldwide, with timely diagnosis being crucial for improving patient outcomes. Current diagnostic methods are often invasive, costly, and inaccessible to many populations. Electrocardiogram (ECG) data, widely available and non-invasive, has the potential to serve as a tool for neoplasms ...

Forecasting Leading Death Causes in Australia using Extended CreditRisk$+$ [PDF]
Recently we developed a new framework in Hirz et al (2015) to model stochastic mortality using extended CreditRisk$^+$ methodology which is very different from traditional time series methods used for mortality modelling previously. In this framework, deaths are driven by common latent stochastic risk factors which may be interpreted as death causes ...

P2Y2 Inhibition Modifies the Anabolic Response to Exercise in Adult Mice
Inhibition of the P2Y2 receptor with AR‐C118925XX (ARC) inhibits osteocytes induction of osteoclast differentiation. Treating adult mice with ARC prevents age‐related bone loss and increase endocortical bone formation. At the same time, ARC also enhances the anabolic response to exercise in aged mice by increasing the degree of periosteal bone ...

Hyperparathyroidism revisited - Old wine in new bottles!
Aim: Hyperparathyroidism (HPT) is a condition that occurs due to exacerbated activity of the parathyroid glands. According to the etiology it may be primary, secondary or tertiary hyperparathyroidism (pHPT, sHPT, tHPT).

Deep Multi-Modal Classification of Intraductal Papillary Mucinous Neoplasms (IPMN) with Canonical Correlation Analysis [PDF]
Pancreatic cancer has the poorest prognosis among all cancer types. Intraductal Papillary Mucinous Neoplasms (IPMNs) are radiographically identifiable precursors to pancreatic cancer; hence, early detection and precise risk assessment of IPMN are vital.
