Analysis of Parathyroid Neoplasms by Interphase Fluorescence In Situ Hybridization
The American Journal of Surgical Pathology, 2004Recent studies have indicated that numerical chromosomal abnormalities, including changes in cyclin D1 and p53, may be involved in parathyroid tumorigenesis. We analyzed a series of parathyroid neoplasms with DNA fluorescent probes to evaluate the diagnostic and prognostic utility of numerical abnormalities of chromosomes 1, 6, 9, 11, 13, 15, 17, and ...

Epithelial-mesenchymal transition in parathyroid neoplasms
2009Epithelial-mesenchymal transitions (EMT) are essential for normal embryonic development and for progression of non-invasive tumor cells into metastatic carcinomas. During embryogenesis, the parathyroid glands develop from pharyngeal pouches and migrate to their final destinations, densely enclosed by mesenchymal neural crest cells.

Thyroid and Parathyroid Neoplasms
2011This chapter offers an overview of the epidemiology and aetiology, clinical and histological characteristics and classification, and staging of thyroid and parathyroid neoplasms before providing a more focused and illustrated description of the imaging findings. The indications and the role of ultrasound, ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration, cross-

Thyroid and Parathyroid Neoplasms
2006X-rays of the neck, the chest or barium swallows can give hints mainly regarding thyroid disease, such as narrowing of tracheal, hypopharyngeal or oesophageal lumen, their shifting away from the midline, and coarse calcifications (Fig. 14.1). Their importance has remarkably decreased since the development and refinement of modern cross-sectional ...

Salivary Gland, Thyroid, and Parathyroid Neoplasms: Molecular Features [PDF]
Tumors involving the salivary, thyroid, and parathyroid glands in the pediatric age group range from benign tumors, to indeterminant malignant potential tumors to frankly malignant tumors. In addition, certain tumors may be associated with hereditary syndromes.

Neoplasms of the parathyroid glands and brown tumours – A case study
Radiography, 2012Abstract A case of brown tumours concomitant with parathyroid adenoma is described. The patient described shoulder pain following minor trauma. Plain X-rays and MRI showed cystic bone lesions while blood analysis depicted high levels of calcium and parathyroid hormone (PTH).

Fine needle cytology pre‐surgical differentiation of parathyroid neoplasms: Is it reliable?
Cytopathology, 2017AbstractBackgroundFine needle cytology (FNC) of a parathyroid neoplasia (PN) is reliable, but needs to be confirmed by Parathormone (PTH) and Thyroglobulin (TG) immunoassay on needle washing or by immunocytochemistry (ICC) evaluation. The differentiation between parathyroid adenoma (PA), atypical adenoma (PAA) and carcinoma (PC) is difficult on ...

Parathyroid adenomas are slow growing benign neoplasms associated with hypercalcemia, while atypical parathyroid adenomas and parathyroid carcinomas are uncommon tumors and their histologic features may overlap with parathyroid adenomas. LncRNAs participate in transcription and in epigenetic or post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression, and ...

Parathyroid neoplasms: Clinical, histopathological, and tissue microarray-based molecular analysis
Human Pathology, 2003We studied 45 patients with typical and 8 with atypical parathyroid adenomas as well as 20 with parathyroid carcinomas. Clinical, pathological, and molecular analyses were conducted on all adenomas. Clinical data were analyzed for 20, histopathologic slides for 16, and tissue specimens for 8 patients with carcinoma.

[Gamma-locator apparatus in the assistance of location of parathyroid neoplasm in operation ].
